First timers question about getting to MK

Please correct me if I'm wrong as we are going to WDW for the first time.

Is it true that once you park you have to take the ferryboat or monorail to MK?Do you choose what you can take?Does it cost extra (separate from the parking fee)? How much? How long does it take on average/

Are there any other parks that go about in this way or can we just park and go to the gate in lets say, AK?

If you are staying on-site, Disney transportation will take you to the entrance of MK. If you are driving you will park at Ticket & Transportation and take either the monorail or ferry boat. Depending on the time and day this can take from 15 minutes to 45 minutes.

Are there any other parks that go about in this way or can we just park and go to the gate in lets say, AK?

All other parks you park, take the tram and go to the gate. Just remember in what lot you are parked in. Have a great vacation.
