First Timers For Us & Ioa-tips Please

i wouldnt pay for the fast pass - we never thought it was worth it. i reckon if you got a hopper ticket you could mix it up a bit

Thanks guys.
Robert - do you mean that i can book now then just ask them to change it if I see it lower price and does it get reduced on 17/8, as we fly 16/8.

Staying at CBR 16/8-30/8 & want to visit US & IOA for a day each. Last 2 visits we have just done Disney parks & Seaworld. DS10 likes roller coasters but not turning upside down, I've read a lot about the main rides but was hoping you could tell me which way around the parks to go, how much a taxi would be etc?

Spiderman and Hulk and Duelling Dragons are a must in our house. The Mummy, Twister, Men In Black all have to be done too. If rides close due to weather - don't despair, sit it out, watch the world run past and fingers crossed most people will leave the rides will reopen and you can run like idiots from ride to ride queue free - it happened to us last ear and we did 10 rides in just over an hour - well worthit. My only gripe is unless you pay for (or get as part of hotel package) the FastPast system is probably the only way, as US don't seem as fair as Disney when it comes to operating this system.
Enjoy!

Yes , if you see a better rate just call them an d get the new rate applied to your booking.
OuR trip last year , i booked the room in September 06, Triple A came out end of October so i called and had the tripleA rate applied to my booking, it changed a furter 3 times before our trip, i just called and had the new rate applied to it. It started of at $249 + tax and we finished up paying $191 +tax.
Summer rates finish on the 17th August this year so rate should go down a bit as this starts the Value season, have a look.

Sharon ,have been looking at prices for when you are there, would appear to me that there are no TripleA rates out yet , the hotel direct price is $214 midweek prices and on the TripleA site they are showing $214 midweek, so i would assume there are none out yet, when you compare them with my rate for July on AAA of $207. so when they do come out i would assume they would be anything from 15% to 20% cheaper than $214.
Keep watching on here, and Bubbas Mum has a date and rate on the Universal resorts section , which you could keep checking, to see if anyone has a AAA rate for when you are going.
If i see it on the AAA site i will let you know.
and like i said book the room direct with Loews and then just change the rate when it gets reduced, i use Telediscount for calling the states.

Thanks for the link, Robert. I understand it a bit better now. Only problem is We don't have AA membership. Do the rates go down just if bookings are low for that night & if there did would they still let you change it or would you be stuck with it. Sorry for all the questions, just still working out best options for us

if booking call loews on 1-866-563-9792,
What jakey says is what i did, bought the membership online, i was already an RAC member but the money i was saving made it worth while. i.e hotel -food - and merchandise, although there is no AAA discount in the hotel restaurants, if i remember correctly.
You do not need membership number until you arrive, you can still book it, just make sure you have your card when you go on holiday.
Would not expect the rates to go down, only with APH ,AAA or Supersaver rates, you can cancel with full refund 5 days prior to arrival, booking through Loews ,not sure about booking through Universal site, as people have been getting different feedback booking this way

My best tip is "it is not Disney, don't expect Pixie Dust". It is a different as chalk and cheese. Its great but most people compare it to Disney. Walk in with an open mind and you will love it.

Stay onsite. We had a villa last August for 2 weeks & spent just one night at the Hard Rock Hotel to get front of line passes. It was great & we all loved it. Hard Rock Hotel was ideally suited to teenagers & we booked the B&B rate via the universal website, Had a great breakfast & didn't really need to eat lunch later that day.

We took 2 of our kids aged 15 & 16 as they didn't want to share a bed We hired a roll away bed that cost us approx £12 extra but kept them happy.

FOLP were brill & we did all the rides we wanted to without hardly any queueing.

Transport to the parks is free & DD & DS enjoyed the rickshaws - you just tip the driver.

f not staying onsite get there for opening

Eat at Mythos in IOA, best theme park food I've ever had.

Finally decided. We're going to book RPR for 1 night probably the 2nd Monday of our 14 night trip. Ive registered for a Lowes card & getting so excited. Thanks so much for all the advice.

Good stuff, I'd be interested in any updates on pricing info as you go along if you don't mind. :thumbsup2
