It has been years since we have stayed in a WDW that was not a deluxe. No particular reason. Just always worked out that way. If I know we will not be using the resort/room that much I look at the mods. Even the values I would not turn up my nose against. But staying at the deluxes have spoiled us some.
I booked a standard room since it was one night. And booked somewhat last minute, so CBR was all the choice I was given for a mod. Also I did not want a pool view, which is included in the water view mix.
The room location was great for us since we had our car -- bldg 13, first floor, backside. (Barbados)
It was actually a pretty quiet room, other than the Illuminations fireworks.
Did not hear any neighbors, even though we had some. Not even kids jumping on the floor above us, which we did have at the Cont MK view in January.
The room was clean, except the carpet that needed replacement -- badly. It was worn and completely brown filty at the entrance area. It was so bad I even took a photo of it as I doubt anyone would believe us on how bad it looked.
Just glad we did not have little ones crawling around. They would have come out cleaner from crawling around outside.
The tiolet handle broke after 4 flushes. I called maintenance and they were out within probably a half hour. But we were leaving the room by that time. Prior to that we had to remove the tank lid to manually flush.
At least they have the correct coffee pot carafe tops. That's more than the Contemp had (even 2 out of 2 rooms).
And no misplaced ceiling tiles, etc, as Contemp had.
DH said the room looked old -- even the beds were beat up.
I thought it looked nice. The beds and pillows were comfy. Much more so than I expected.
The only bed gripes I have (and with other WDW resorts) is they had what appears to be King bed frames with Queen mattresses. So the bed frames are way bigger than they need to be and stick out. I always bang my leg at least once and have to be conscious the bed is larger than the mattress. There are good six inch gaps sometimes.
Check in was a breeze. Probably the shortest and most prompt we have ever had. The grounds were very well kept up.
Overall a very good stay. And with the dining plan
gotta love it. (Tutto for dinner last night.
)
I will post photos at a later time.
