First timers and We Are Here!!

(NOTE TO MODS: I guess this turned into a trip report, so if this thread needs to be moved, it's OK)

The electrical parade was GREAT!! It was years ago that we saw it at WDW. DD only remember Spectro, so it was neat that she got to see something different.

Then we hopped over to DL, and DD and I did It's a Small World (I loved the outside queue, with all the topiaries, but the ride itself is better at WDW), and DH did Space Mountain and the Matterhorn. Then we came back to the hotel.

More from the First-Timers:

We went to California Adverture today, and we LOVED IT! I know lots of people don't like it, don't think it's very Disney-like, don't feel like there is enough to do, but we loved it. It's wide open like Epcot in Florida, and there were many things that appealed to our DD9. However, the big disappointment was that the Aladdin Show was not running today; DD has been looking forward to that for months. But we got to do 2 of my favorites, Soarin' and Crush. And we all enjoyed the Paradise Pier section, with all the carnival rides. It was just great not to be shoulder to shoulder with the crowds.

After a short rest at the hotel, we went back to DL for a few more rides. They cancelled the fireworks (again), but it was OK, we caught most of them the first night.

All in all, this DL trip has been great. We still felt the Disney magic, knowing that we were in Walt's Park, and we could enjoy the things that were new and different to us. Now onto American Girl Place tomorrow, and the rest of the week in Carlsbad, going to Sea World and San Diego Zoo, and hopefully some rest for my already tired feet!

I really don't know anyone who doesn't like CA..they are nuts...I absolutely love it..too..
I think it is Disney like ...We went to WDW last year for the first time..and some of the best things of Epcot...AK..and MGM..are at CA..so I can get a little bit of WDW close to home...Plus..I love seeing the characters in their vacation gear...

How have the crowds been?

We are due to land on the Disney Panama Canal cruise on Memorial Day Sunday next year and we are trying to decide whether to go to DL for a few days or head off somewhere.

We have never been to DL so this would be the ideal oppportunity. We would probably fly out on the Thursday so we would have 3+days.

Definitely go. The crowds were manageable. DL was what I would call "shoulder to shoulder" on Saturday night and Sunday. But the waits were not the worst I've ever seen (30-45 minutes on some things). On Monday (Memorial Day) we went to Calif Adventure, and maybe because it is more spread out, but I didn't feel crowded at all. We got there at 9:45 and walked onto Soarin, and walked into Crush. We went over to DL that night at 6pm, and even though there were lots of people, it didn't seem as crowded as it did Saturday and Sunday.

Thanks for the reply. That is good and encouraging to know.

We probably wouldn't go in the parks on the Sunday as we wouldn't be there till lunchtime, so it would be Mon/Tues/Wed - if I could get John to go for 3 days!!:rotfl:

I am sneaking in another day at the beginning of the holiday at WDW too!!:rolleyes1

I am one who has to hit the parks the day I arrive..no matter what time that is..We usually get to DL around noon...and go straight to the parks..When we went to WDW..we didn't get there until 4:30..and we still went to the MK..because we felt that that park would be the easiest to navigate as it was most like DL..lol
