We traveled to WDW from 12/10-12/17. It was myself, DH, DD1, DD5 and my parents. We were on the dining plan.
First up was the Hoop Dee Do Revue. We did not use the dining plan for this, we chose to book category 1 seating and pay out of pocket.
Food was delicious! We started off with cornbread and salad, followed by fried chicken, ribs, beans and mashed potatoes. Dessert was yummy strawberry shortcake. Service was very slow and our waitress had no personality, but the show and food was good. We would return for sure.
Saturday morning was Tusker House breakfast, which we really enjoyed. We got lots of character interaction and I thought the food was delicious. Service was excellent as well.
Saturday night was Flying Fish Cafe. We had our first major FAIL with Disney transportation, so we were an hour late getting there. Even after calling 10 minutes before our reservation and getting it changed, we got there and they say they don't have it. The seat us and manger brings over wine. All is well. Food was really good, but service was beyond horrible. So slow, had to ask multiple times for refills. Tons of dirty plates in front of us. Not what you expect from a restaurant that takes two credits. So food was good, but won't be going back.
Sunday we did counter service all day. POP food court is on the top of my list of things I never want to do again, enough said there.
Monday we did counter service all day again.
Tuesday was Sci-Fi Dine in for lunch. We really enjoyed this. Our waitress was lovely and the food was very good. But, it was terribly overpriced. $22 for a shrimp pasta, I would never pay that. We will go back, but only if on the dining plan.
Wednesday morning was breakfast at Crystal Palace. LOVED this. Our waitress was lovely and the food was fantastic. DD loved the characters. Will go here again for sure.
Wednesday night was Le Cellier. I was so excited for this reservation, but was so disappointed. We arrived early, but received a lecture about how we wouldn't be seated early, but if we checked in we couldn't leave. She was quite rude about it. Five minutes later they sat us.
Waiter was very nice, but not a good waiter. Had to ask for bread and refills. He disappeared numerous times. It did not live up to the hype at all.
Thursday we had lunch at Via Napoli in Italy. Nothing special, it was fine. Had some major mix-ups with dining plan credits, thought we had one more child credit than we did. Even though I went over it with the concierge just that morning, not sure what happened. Manager comped it for us. Thank goodness, cause I was not going to be happy about paying $18 for a lunch for a child. It was fine, but not on my list of places to go again.
We were supposed to go to Coral Reef, but had to cancel. Bummer.
We ate at several counter service restaurants including Peco Bill's, Flametree BBQ and Cosmic Ray's. It was all the same food and I liked it. Overpriced, but that was a pattern here.
I wish we would have been able to try a few more places and I was disappointed with the two "nicer" restaurants. Thank goodness we were on the dining plan because the prices are just outrageous.
