Hi, my family leaves for Disney Aug. 4. Any recommendations on which room/building I should request in Alligator Bayou? We'd like to be close to a quiet pool and a bus stop. Thanks so much!!!

Howdy,

I totally love POR. Last October was out first time staying in the Aligator Bayou section. We had BLDG. 27 and loved it.

Check out the map at this link:

Bldg 27 really looks like a long walk to the main bldg and the bus but it really isn't. There is no bad view from this BLDG. I would stay there again in a heartbeat if I didn't now own Vacation Club.

I hope this helps.

Our best location was in bldg 16 bottom floor, corner room, water view - which was looking towards the quiet pool. Being bottom and corner, meant no one had to walk past our door, so it was like our own front porch.

The landscape was so lush we could barely see the pool, even though it was right there. We were a couple minute walk to the main hub or main pool. We caught the bus out front of the main hub and never had a problem.

Our other thought was possibly requesting to look right at the river (we liked the looks of bldg 27 while we were there, so thanks, FRANK, that reinforces what we thought !

we used to stay at dixie landings a lot (it's our favorite moderate resort)...we always asked for the alligator bayou section (i think it's so relaxing there...you really feel like you're away from it all)....
since we prefer proximity to the main building we always asked for the building nearby....i think it's building number 14....since we always stayed there for 3 weeks at a time, we wanted the convenience of being able to get to the main building for drink refills at the drop of a hat...

given that the view doesn't really matter (your window faces the walkway that leads to the rooms), i don't really think it matters which way you're facing.....however, we always seemed to have a very nice view (on those few occasions we looked)....

We stayed in building 27 in Alligator Bayou. We had a second floor corner room with water view. Perfect view of old man river and the large wheel at the food court. Have some pictures of it on the link to our homepage. It was great!!!

Stayed at POR in Sept. 2000 when it was still Dixie Landings. We absolutely LOVED the resort! Stayed in Building 27....had a second floor corner room which overlooked the river. It was a wonderful location! Most people will recommend bldg 14 because it is so close to the main building, but I thought it was TOO close for me. The walk from 27 to the food court was less than 2 minutes and the quiet pool was right around the corner. I just loved the lushness of the resort. We own DVC now, but I would stay at POR again in a heartbeat.

Have a wonderful trip!

Although I stayed on the mansion bldg side of POR, I've heard Bldg 14 is so convienent to the food court and the bus stop. Typically the South Depot is the 2nd of five bus stops (POFQ is 1).
One thing about POR, is that it turned out to be more compact than I thought. The grounds are beautiful and I didn't mind the walk to the food court (5-10 min). I didn't have a river view either, but I think most of the views are nice (courtyard and fountain for me).

Our first trip to WDW in '99 and we stayed in bldg. 35. It was a little further from the food court and pool. But there is a nice quiet pool right there and the bus stop is a quick walk away. Very quiet. Have to say that I loved the quiet morning walks to the food court for coffee...all by myself. And the ducks and the bunnies!!!

Here's a vote for building 27. It was very convenient. It's close to the main path that takes you to the main pool if you go left and to the food court if you take a right. It's also a centrally located building meaning you won't see a parking lot. I'm not sure where the closest quiet pool would be from there.

My vote would be for building 34. It is very close to the bus stop (West Depot) and right next to a quiet pool. It is also close to the parking lot. The only downside is it is far from the food court - but when it is crowded, that may be a good thing.

I don't see what all the hype is about bldg. 14. It's way too close to the noise and bustle for me. 27 was a quick, beautiful and relaxing walk to the food court for my am coffee. Our room was on the inside corner on the far side of the bldg. What the maps don't tell you is that there is a little hallway that runs thru the middle so getting to the other side of the bldg. is no problem.

Have a great trip.
