First timer to akl how long to stay?

Hello: We are going to the akl for the first time. How long is the average stay here, also do most people use this resort to rest and not tour the parks, or a little of each. We have ll days, and are also going to the poly/ dolphin.

We spent 7 nights last May and it was a great place. It was so much fun to wake up and see the animals. The kids were so excited as it took two days for the giraffes to show. It was a nice place to take the afternoon break. I would think 3 or 4 nights would be good.

I've stayed 1 night and 3 nights....I preferred the three but I could have gone for more....

Last year we were able to do two trip to WDW one "short" trip of 5 days at the end of May and then we did our "regular" trip of 10 days at the begining of September. We spent a total of 15 days at the AKL in 2001 and loved every day of it. We did find it difficult to pull ourselves away from the resort to go to the parks. My husband will not even consider spliting resorts but since you are I would say to use the AKL for the days that you are planning to hang out at the resort and relax.

Hi folks: We have three nights booked but I might have wanted four or five but that darn disney travel made me pay for my whole vacation 30 days ahead of arrival, and it is for room only. Not a package.

I sure wish I could have just kept the first night deposit down, and paid for the rest of the trip when we get down there, but they sent me a final notice saying it had to be paid in full before march 30 or they would cancel it, so I had to shorten my animal kingdom stay by a few days. Also if I change anything at this point they will charge me l0.00. Never heard of this before. I' not sure I like doing it this way.

Has anybody else come across this. Now I think that I may need a couple more days, it is so hard to figure out how long to stay, we are doing a split with another resort. The other wdw resort I only had to pay the first nights deposit and the rest when we get down there.

Darn I have done it at the beginning, because of pressure from wd travel company to pay by march 30. That was totally unexpected.

Even now, we are driving and my hubby still does not know exactly when we are leaving depending on his boss, it is a two day drive 24 hours. So they (wdw travel) put me on the spot so I hope hubby can get off when I chose this time, cause they want to start charging for every change i make now that it is paid off. I have never heard of this before.
I will not buy a disney club card in the future and book a trip this way, and I will write and tell them why.

I wonder if when we get there, after a day if we want more days, if we can postpone the other resort for a couple of days, without paying a penalty, seeing how we are going from a wdw resort to wdw resort.

I love animals, and was so excited to be going there but i sure hated to cut my stay like i had to. And hubby could not figure out why we would have to pay something in full that we haven't even done yet?
Oh well, i have lost so many sleepless nights trying to figure how many nights to do there.

Do you see animals in the afternoons, when you come back for a rest?

Hi Deb,

I am not sure about the postponing of going to the other resorts.

As far as seeing the animals go we found the best times to be early in the morning between 6am and 8am and then again around 4pm till 7pm. One night around 9pm we were able to see all of the wildabeast lying in a circle it was so cute.

I can't wait to see wildebeest in the real, as I have only seen them on the discovery channel. We are arriving the first day around 1 p.m. and will use that day to look around and rest, after the long drive. Then maybe the animal kingdom park the next day, and have the evening at the lodge to watch the happenings.

Good luck tomorrow getting a discount. I just tried to get into the site (disney club )and I am having some problems. But I will try disney club again, maybe there is a better deal for my trip.
