DH and myself (40's no kids) are anxiously anticipating our first trip on DCL in December. We are doing 4 day land / 3 day sea, with the land portion at Port Orleans Riverside.

I have a few questions that I know you all can answer for me!

1. I would like to request a king bed at PO; should I fax my request a few days prior to arrival?

2. About what time does the DCL bus leave from the resorts to the pier? Do you think we will have some time to go to one of the parks before departing before the ship (like for breakfast)?

I will have many more questions in the next few months, I'm sure, but in the meantime I LOVE reading these boards. I have gotten some great ideas.

Thanks.:D

Which sailing are you on? We are on the Dec 12 Wonder It will be our 3rd cruise on DCL.
Most of the busses leave late morning or early afternoon. We have done Chef Mickeys and still got back to resort in plenty of time.

Have your king bed request noted on your DCL reservation and it will get transmitted to the Port Orleans Riverside for you...no need to fax the request. It will be request only, no guarantees, but they will do what they can to accommodate you.

You might have time for a very quick trip to the parks that morning but you would be rushing it, to tell you the truth. The busses leave between about 11:15 and 12:30 from the different resorts (departure time depends on the resort) and you really do want to try and be on one of the earlier busses if you can. I think trying to do a character breakfast that morning, if that appeals to you, is a great idea.

Have fun! :)

Steve,

We're on the sailing on the Wonder on the 12th too. I can hardly wait to go. I've been on other cruises, so I'm looking forward to seeing how DCL compares.

Thank you all for the advice.:) :earsgirl:

I believe AK has a character breakfast then you can take a bus from AK to the port. I'm not sure how luggage is handled.

We went to AK the day of our Wonder sailing. If memory serves, we indicated what we would be doing via a phone message to a dedicated line. Our luggage was picked up from the Poly that morning and we took our carry-ons with us to AK.

When we arrived at AK, we checked our carry-on luggage with the dedicated DCL reps at the AK entrance.

Our trip to AK was a little rushed. We spent most of our time in the Dinasour area with DS5. A quick lunch, a visit with Pooh and friends and a few rides was all we really had time for. Next trip to WDW we will be spending more time there.

We then collected our carry-ons and headed out to the bus. Pretty easy but it made for a busy day with all the activities related to embarkment.
