I just stayed at the Yacht Club a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it.

My family and I want to go back and I wanted to get a 2bdr and a 1bdr villa at the BWV (there will be 10 of us) instead of the All Star Sports that we originally planned to stay in (4 studios). I've read up on renting points, and have some inquiries going to get them. My question is this: Is this feasible in June (specifically June 22-27, which does not include a Friday or Saturday night stay)???

Thanks for your advice!

First off welcome to the DVC Dis......and yes sure it is possible. One thing to remember is that there are occupancy limits to the units.....1 bedroom sleeps 4 and one child under 3 and a 2 bedroom sleeps 8 with a child under 3. If you want everyone together a grand villa would be the best choice..they sleep 12 and have 3 bedrooms. Or I guess do a combination of studios and villas. Good luck in your quest......

Might be tough if you are looking at this June (2008). That's only about 3 months away and you need two units. Most DVC members book farther ahead than that and BWV is a popular choice. But it is possible there is still availability at the BWV, so no harm in trying.

Good luck - if you posted your "reservation wanted" ad on the Rent/Trade Forum, I'm sure someone will ocntact you if there is availability.

I agree with Carol, getting into BWV on short notice like that may be difficult, but who knows you may luck out. I can tell you that I called a month ago to book for July and all DVC resorts for the week we are going were sold out (to DVC members) except OKW and SSR. You may be able to still get in one of those resorts since they are the two largest resorts on property.

Yes my thinking was to get 2 villas, a 1 bedroom for 3 of us and a 2 bedroom for the other 7 (3 kids). A grand villa would be possible, but its a lot more money!

Also, I did post a points wanted thread on the rent forum. Have had one reply, so hopefully I can check into what's available that week. I was hoping the lack of a Fri/Sat stay would help us!

Thanks for the replies!

Actually, Fri/Sat are probably a bit easier to get since there are a lot of members who on book Sun - Thurs because Fri and Sat are about double the points for those nights. You might be able to get SSR or OKW, but you'll need a member to check for you.

Are the room limits enforced? I have small children that can share a bed. Do i need to upgrade if I do not need the extra room?

Room limits are strictly enforced at DVC. It doesn't matter if the whole family can share one bed.

A studio or one bedroom is limited to four persons plus one child under the age of three.

A two bedroom is limited to eight plus one.

A Grand Villa is limited to twelve plus one.

Well I don't have issues with the limits since we have 7 in the 2 bdr and 3 in the 1 bdr. Just hope i can find a place to get since I can't change our vacation dates!

I can tell you now that it is not availible:sad2: .I have tried for everywhere the later part of June and there is no availibility except somethings at SSR and maybe OKW.
So please dont get your hopes up because it is very slim that you will be able to get something.

But that being said, I think either of those resorts would be wonderful choices for groups that size, and certainly a far cry from the All Stars! OKW costs far fewer points, so that would be an excellent choice. Besides, you would have an additional queen sized bed there compared to SSR or BWV.

I totally agree with you. They were just saying they were wanting BWV and I was just saying that it is not likely to happen is all.
We have stayd more than once at OKW and we loved the extra room, we have never stayed at SSR but I love the decor in the rooms.

I would say good advice and I would look for those resorts, but I booked a 2 bdr and a 1bdr at Sarasota Springs yesterday! I'm glad its all resolved now, but I still have to find airfare. Ticket prices from Kansas City are going up every day it seems like.

I think the short walk to Downtown Disney will be nice, but not as nice as being able to walk to Hollywood Studios and Epcot! Hopefully my sisters, parents, niece, and nephews will be happy with my trip planning. I think my sisters will like being close to Downtown Disney with all of the shopping and things to do with the kids.

Happy for you - congrats on getting the units so close to arrival.

FWIW, find a way to casually mention the rack rate (including tax) for those SSR units and then mention how lucky you were to get it for a (insert % discount). Then say you tried to get into the BWV, but it's all sold out and you found out you have to plan 8-12 months in advance to get in there. I'm sure your family will be impressed, - most extended family members don't like to plan so far in advance, LOL.

Enjoy the trip and sending pixie dust for affordable airfare.

I assume you meant Saratoga Springs.
