This is our first time to the world and also first time with QS. I have no clue how this works. Say like if you order something will they have the drinks and desserts right there are do have to pick those up at a different area?

TIA

It would be the same as ordering at any fast food restaurant. You place your order, pay for it, or use your dining credit if on a meal plan, then go to the counter to pick it up on a tray.

Some different CS locations will have slightly varying protocols, but for the most part, the PP is correct. Order, wait, get tray with everything. The vast majority of desserts are things like cakes, puddings, etc and not frozen.

There are a few places with frozen desserts, and for those you'd typically come back to the same place, with the receipt, within a certain timeframe (~60minutes) to get them.

The PP posters are correct for the CS restaurants in the parks - you get everything after you order and pay.

However, at Value resorts, you have to pick everything up at different spots - entree, dessert, and then they give you a cup when you pay.

Since you are doing the Quick Service dining plane .... just a word of advice, not all Quick Service meals are created equal!

Look at the menus of some of the restaurants, the quality can vary!

I used the QS dining plan when traveling with my son and 3 of his friends (12 y/o boys)

The best quality meals are (in my opinion) located in these restaurants:

Wolfgang puck express at Downtown Disney (I prefer the east location, near Carousel)
Earl of Sandwich (though not the best bang for your buck)
Hollywood Studios - Fairfax Fare
Magic Kingdom - Cosmic Ray's

My reason for choosing these particular restaurants is the accessibility to a meal with options other than fried foods, chicken nuggets, burgers , fries.... etc.

I think knowing where to go on the QS plan can help you avoid having the same (bland, unhealthy) meal over and over.

I'm not claiming these locations are serving "health foods"..... just better variety, better quality.

Thanks so much for the info trying to take all this in so we will be ready when we get there in August.

I remember when I was new to Disney World. I went to Cosmic Ray's at MK and ordered something. It wasn't until future visits that I realized that Cosmic Ray's had THREE separate ordering Bays, with THREE separate menu boards. You could get Chicken/Pork at one Bay, Burgers/Hot Dogs at a second Bay, Sandwiches at a third Bay. There's an animated character called Sonny Eclipse who appears often to put on a little show. He's cute. Here's the menu (http://allears.net/menu/men_cr.htm)

Also at MK, I like Pecos Bill's. They have a toppings bar that is quite big. Columbia Harbor House in Liberty Square has a really great white tuna sandwich that is a cut above. For your snack credit, try the Dole Whip that people love. It's at Aloha Isle in Adventureland. People also adore the ice cream/cookie sandwich at Main Street Bakery.

I agree that WPE and EoS at DTD are probably the best QS places on Disney property. You can't go wrong at either place.

At DHS, I like Starring Rolls. They have nice sandwiches and great desserts. Also Backlot Express, which has refillable self-serve drinks. I can't think of a snack that stands out, but one place I love to go is the Writer's Stop next to Sci Fi Dine-In. It's a great "coffee house" with light snack selections

AK, everyone recommends Flame Tree BBQ. I agree. Favorite snack credit item for me is the Jalapeno Cheese stuffed Pretzel, at Safari Pretzel near It's Tough To Be a Bug on Discovery Island.

At Epcot, all the QS places are interesting. Look over the menus to see what appeals to you. In the am, coming in to Epcot, we always stop in The Land building. Get your Soarin' fastpasses there, then stop in to Sunshine Seasons for a great array of food and snack choices. Nearby building is Club Cool by Coca Cola, with free self-serve sodas from around the world. Highly recommend "Beverly" from Italy. Make sure you have your camera out, to get your friend's reaction to it.

In the Epcot World Showcase, you can get the Jalapeno Cheese Pretzel at Fife and Drum at the American Pavilion. In Japan, people adore the Kaki Gori shave ice with fruit syrups for a snack credit. In France, don't miss the Boulangerie Patisserie. There's a ton of pastries there, for 1 snack credit. I love the Kringla Bakeri og Cafe in Norway, which has Norwegian pastries.

The snack items that are on the dining plan will have a little colored symbol next to them. When you arrive at your resort, look around the food court and you'll see the little symbols. Later, you'll notice them at the park food outlets. If you have a question about a food item being on your plan, ask. The CMs are glad to help. You'll start to understand it all in no time.

This is a great source of menus, pictures and reviews. http://allears.net/din/dining.htm
