Walker (and my ECV) were terrific! So many people here gave me tips that I thought I might at least post a review and some experiences. They're not a "featured provider", meaning I had to be there for delivery and pick up. Worked out great! Although they were not supposed to drop off until 7-8, they called around 5:15, just as we were checking in. After check-in, I sat on a bench by the valets, and maybe 2 minutes later they and my savior scooter for the week showed up. First, I must confess-why did I fight this for so many years? Here I am at the end of the week, my back isn't screaming in pain, and I've pretty much gotten over my initial embarrassment and mortification about needing a scooter. Everyone was so nice-all week I had only one person give me a dirty look, but countless more were so kind and helpful. Anyways, I learned a few things. First, check your light periodically. Even though you think it's not on (and shouldn't be during the day-it wears down the battery), sometimes the button accidentally gets hit and the light gets turned on. Also, if your ECV stops suddenly, check the position of the key. My scooter stopped in the middle of Epcot, and it was because the straps of my backpack had gotten twisted with the key and turned it off. Took me about 30 seconds of panicking to learn that. And most important-the turtle/rabbit dial is your friend. Don't keep the ECV at a certain speed and stop, back up, turn corners, with it at that speed. I'd always crank down to the slowest/turtle speed before doing those things. And last, I'm embarrassed to say, but maybe someone else wouldn't know-the charger often as an on/off switch. Mine did! I didn't know this until about the 4th day. The charger came switched "on", so all I knew was that I plugged it in to charge. Well, on the 4th day, the charger had been in my backpack (that backpack that makes ECVs stop working) and somehow the switch, that I didn't know the charger had, got switched off. A small thing with my charger-the fan on the charger was loud at first, but after an hour or so, it quieted down. Tonight they were scheduled to pick up between 7-8. We were back at the hotel, resting and packing by 5:30. When they called around 6:15, I asked right away "Oh, are you picking up the ECV" "Are you ready for us now?" They said about 20 minutes they'd call as they got to the hotel. Sure enough, exactly 20 minutes later, they called as I was headed downstairs, the big "Walker Mobility" truck was waiting, and everything was quick. As I told the pick-up person, I was very pleased with the scooter and their service. Any questions, I'd be happy to help other newbies.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Glad to hear Walker Mobility was great. I've already booked with Apple so we'll see how that works out.

Yay! I'm so glad you had a great trip! :)

You'll hear that "beep beep beep beep" from the buses for a few more weeks... then it goes away LOL ;)

I have a question for you... We leave for our trip in 6 days, and I'm also renting from Walker. Did you ever use a taxi with your ECV? I'm Catholic, and trying to figure out which service to use to get to and from Mass on Saturday evening and on All Saints Day, but I'm just not sure. I don't want to pay $40 for Mears, but I'm afraid Uber won't be able to accommodate me. It doesn't look like the Walker scooter breaks down as far as some others do, so I don't think it could just go in a trunk.

Unfortunately we never tried breaking down the scooter to go anywhere in our car, but the guy gave me instructions and said I could. I kind of wish we'd tried it because we have a return trip planned in January and we hope to use the car.

I have reserved a deluxe scooter through Walker next month, and will need to take it with us when we move offsite for a few days. The information on their website says that when disassembled it will fit in the trunk of a mid-size car which is what we have rented. I am curious about Uber, though, too, in case we need it while we're on-site.

Thanks for the review and tips. We'll be using them for the first time on our Dec trip

Could you possibly take along (or rent) a folding cane, or a walker for Saturday evening and All Saints Day? That way you wouldn't have to worry about the scooter when you leave WDW to go to services. I don't want to presume anything about your health - it's just a suggestion. :)

Not all Walker scooters break down. You will need to confirm that yours will. They do fit into an average sized car trunk. Some pieces weigh close to 30 pounds. We have never used a taxi at Disney so I can't help there.

Just to clarify ALL Walker scooters break down for very easy portability. Uber should have no problem but I would let them know about the scooter so trunk can be available or a van. We've used Uber when going to I-Drive and shopping and have not experienced any problem.

FYI Hunchback but to clarify your post ALL Walker Mobility scooters do "break down" for easy portability.

The Walker rep showed us how to break it down but we never did. I believe there is also a video on their website showing how it breaks down.
