So we booked at the GCH in disneyland for four nights with our developer points...but I am curious...other than my photo id and membership card what will they exect from me? Do we pay taxes on the room or any fees? Just curious...thanks!

No taxes, no resort fees to pay. Your points cover all of that :cool1:

You may or may not have to pay for valet parking (if you bring your own car of course)! Just make sure you bring that membership card for perks and discounts!

Parking is free for guests at any of the DL hotels, regardless of being booked on cash or points. I've stayed there on points and cash and have not been charged for parking.

Actually, they don't even require the membership card for check in but you will need it to receive any dining and shopping perks. Unlike WDW there's lots of dining perks in the parks and most of the Downtown Disney stores also give discounts.

If you happen to forget the card you can go to the DVC sales center next to the DL Hotel and they will get you a temporary one. I had to do this since I hadn't even received it prior to staying there on points.

And Disneyland Resort hotels give you free internet access. Its part of the resort fee you don't have to pay. So that's nice to have as well. You will also have access to the athletic club and a free USA Today as part of that fee, again the one you won't have to pay!

I have stayed at the GCH and DLH on points several times. And I agree, you get lots of nice dining perks with your DVC card. You also get some shopping discounts, Club Libby Lu being one of them. If you have a daughter, good luck staying out of that place (and your DTD GCH entrance is right by it;) )!

I will tell you that there is no pool hopping for members staying on points at DL.

You can valet park, and at the GCH it can be nice to do so. You may end up parking a long ways from your room, we did. But it wasn't a biggie since we didn't move the car the entire week. No need to if all you are doing is Disneyland.

Have a great trip!

Thanks so much!

And I do have a daughter but thankfully she is too young for that...right now :) Again...thank you all very much! :goodvibes

We just got back from DL yesterday. We stayed 4 nights at the DL Hotel and one at Paradise Pier, both on points.

Nearly every fast food place in Disneyland, California Adventure and Downtown Disney and most of the table-service restaurants give 10% off for DVC members. Ask everywhere you go!

Also, (in case you have one) there is a 10% discount for Disney Visa cardholders. It is good at any Disney-run store at the DL resort (does not include non-Disney stores at DtD for example), not just the World of Disney. You must spend $50 to get the discount.

I kept forgetting to use my DVC card for dicounts on food! One time I tried to use the discount at one of the quick service places and they said they didn't take it, even thought the Perks book said they did. It was peak lunch rush and a manager couldn't get over to override the register, or something, so I didn't bother.

We were there in July and stayed on points at the DL Hotel. We had a rental and were planning on going to DL first for the day. I figured I'd have to park in the park's parking structure then move the car over after we were able to check-in around 4 pm, but I called the hotel and they said don't bother with that plan, just come straight to the hotel and we could "pre-register" and drop off the suitcases and then park in the hotel lot... this was at 8:30 that morning. We arrived around 9 am, pulled into the hotel's 20 min lot to "pre-register" and drop the bags. Well even though the hotel was busy, it wasn't at 100% capacity, so we got to actually check-in right then - just after 9 am and then took our bags to our room instead of leaving them with Bell Services. We wer pleasantly surprised, to say the least! Then we were able to walk over to the park and didn't have to even think about the hotel again until much later in the day...
