First timer at Sci- Fi - couple questions

The Sci-fi is one of my favorite places to eat at in WDW! The burgers are very good. I also love the atomosphere of the whole place.

I guess I'm the only dissenter. I really hope you have a good experience. We didn't. Cool atmospere, robotic server who rushed us out the door, and the worst food I've ever eaten at a restaurant. (And we ordered burgers, rings, etc.) It is literally the only WDW restaurant that I would strongly recommend against. Maybe we had an off day but if so, it was really off!

we're trying to book it for our upcoming end of sept trip so our son can get the experience, but it's been booked solid for lunch and dinner since we booked our room on day 85 or so. free dining :furious:

I'm not sure how many people are in your party, but many of the Sept. dates have availability for parties of 5 ;)

We were there for lunch last Saturday and had a great experience. We were a party of two and were 'hitchhikers" in the back seat of a car. I had the cheeseburger, fries and a chocolate milkshake and DBF had the Rueben and a Margarita. Everything tastes great and was well-prepared and presented. The cool, quiet, dark atmosphere was perfect for a hot afternoon. The movies were corny, but fun. We'll be back!

We started going to Sci-fi shortly after it was built, saw it in the WDW brochure, and the boys (little then :) were over the moon about it. Now many many many years later it is still a favorite, so glad when we went the negative internet reviews were not common place. The main reason I don't set much stock in other people's opinions.:surfweb:

We LOVE the penne, ruebens, and ribs. The milkshakes are great, and this place is just cool, Cool, COOL!

That is good to hear about the ruebens and ribs. I am replacing the Plaza with the SciFi since it fits better in with our schedule. I didn't want to do two table service meals in one day.

y husband raved about the rueben at the Plaza our last trip so I hope he won't be disappointed with the one at Sci-Fi.

I'll go with the dissenter here. My burger was burnt (asked for med-well). I could have sent it back, but we were already there for a while and I wanted to get moving. Could happen anywhere, anytime. :confused3 The peanut butter chocolate cake was delish, and so was the oreo milkshake!!!

I personally didn't care for the atmosphere, which was really the main point. We were a party of 3, and my mom was put-out about having to sit in front of DD and me with her back to us. So if there are 3 of you, you will be in front or back of your kids, everyone facing forward. I didn't mind that, hey, it's the whole point! But it was SUPER dark in there, I had to take a pic of my food to see it.

It wasn't for me, but everyone whose interested in the atmosphere should check it out at least once. I think for as many people who don't care for it, there are just as many who love it. You never know till you try it! And don't forget about that warm chocolate cake with the peanut butter in the middle! ;)

Just curious if anyone knows how they will seat us. We are a party of five. My kids are 2, 5 and 10. Will they let are little one sit in the middle of us? I just don't want anyone to have to sit alone. TIA

You will likely get a whole car to yourself, with one person having a row to themselves. I can't really see any other way of doing it, unless you request a traditional table in the back.

I have seen pics of a little one in between the parents. The row is a little snug, but it can definitely be done, depending on the size of the parents, I guess. I would just let them know when you check in that you want to do it that way. It can be done.

where are the tables? i been looking and looking. (i guess we will ask for two cars side by side for our party of 8

There is no table in the normal cars .. more like a small counter maybe 8 inches wide for your meal. Room is a little tight.

Toward the rear are cars with just a front and a longer table. And I believe stand alone tables.

We have been seated in 2 different types of cars---one with 3 rows for 2 people max in each row, that every one keeps talking about but the other type has a car in front and back with a longer table attached in the middle. We had this type of car when we needed a high chair. I think this other type of car seats 8. Hope this helps. There are other tables hidden in the back that have umbrellas on them that look like concession stand tables with 4 benches (very uncomfortable--we sat there once when we had no ressie!!)--pre-DIS

They sat our family of 4 in the front of the car & asked if we minded sharing. Our reply was that we had no problem sharing but you may want to ask the other party if they wanted to share...& with a 8 month old & 4 yr old???? Its a little more than just sharing a table :rotfl:

We are a party of 7 I wonder how they would set us up in a "car"? Would we just pull up an extra chair?:confused3
