First Timer! Any tips?

Hi, I am a first timer when it comes to taking a trip away from the family. My father is helping me get this trip together because he is a Disney Guru! But is there anything I should know? Especially since this trip is for my Honeymoon, just looking for special things to know about, or anything cool.

I haven't been to the parks since 1997 (4th grade) and I understand there are some new attractions. Curious to find out what other people list as "must sees" so I don't miss out on anything awesome!

I would say have fun for starters
See as much as you can and do as much as you can
Be sure to check out New fantasyland
Really the main thing is get the full experience out of disney
Animal kingdom will be a must because it seems as though last time you were there it wasn't finished yet so a must do there is the Kilimanjaro safaris I ride it multiple times when I'm there
A great place to eat there is tucker house at Animal kingdom

Are you staying on property?
If so and even if you not the hotels around magic kingdom have some amazing restaurants like the Polynesian or the wilderness lodge

You mentioned you'd be on honeymoon? I'd definitely recommend Dining Plan, possibly Deluxe Dining Plan, great romance! Staying on-site? Use the resort's concierge service! They'll be your best resource, because they'll customize to your interests! Congratulations and enjoy! Move at a fast pace,but don't be afraid to stop and enjoy a particular moment!

For our first three trips long decades ago, I bought one of these wonderful guides each year and simply devoured themNot only did it give me such insight to everything at the World, it serves as a wonderful souvenier of those years....remember, we went BEFORE Animal Kingdom was a park and DHS was strictly MGMThese boards are another premo resource. Go across the buttons at the top from Theme Parks through Reservations and read everything. If this is your honeymoon, I know you'll want to get the Mickey Bride and Groom ears first thing

dzneelvr- I actually already have the Mickey and Minnie bride and groom ears. My friend picked them up in Disney Land for me last year! I love them! Wearing those out the door of our reception.

you might want to walk over to the disney for adults board for some romance tips.

my tip would be to get photopass photos taken at every opportunity. my favorite place for photos is actually epcot (although MK is right behind it). my friend had her engagement photos done in epcot and they were fantastic! i have some really amazing photos from my last trip in germany. you can buy just a few prints and a digital copy of one photo, so if you only get one good one from them its ok.

look into cali grill for wishes. i went with my mother and we saw two couples get engaged during it. it is just fantastic and for me not overrated.

i would say the dining plan is a must for you. it will take away a lot of the stress of the trip if you make all your ADRs and your food is pre-paid.

Don't try and do everything. There is a LOT to do. Get a good guidebook and as you go through it rate everything - use some sort of scale - Must, Want, Could, Pass. I really like a Passporter for this, but everyone has their favorite book.

I would take the opposite advice - don't try to see and do as much as you can. Enjoy your honeymoon. Sleep in, go to bed early Take time for romantic dinners. Find the gardens and less inhabited corners of Disney for slow walks.

invest in the Unnofficial guide to wal disney world.
Make sure to get your bride and groom ears and buttons wear them EVERYWHERE! we got lots of goodies when we went on our honeymoon in 07.
also whe making adrs make sure to tell them it is your honeymoon. I also agree with the pp who said get the dining plan. when it comes to quick service meals lots of them are big enough to share. we do this when we are there it helps us try out new things and if it isn't something we are too crazy about we still have qs left to get something we like better. Check the boards for menues so you will know what they have and how much it is (in case you are paying cash out of pocket) allearsnet.com also has most of them. I found the reviews in the unnofficial guide to be pretty accurate for the most part they are harsh at times bt if they said a place wasn't good it wasn't. have been 5 times and always check the unnofficial guide to take along.

So ADRs are advanced Dining Reservations? Right? Any good places that people would recommend? I want to go back to the Crystal Palace and how is the Mary Poppins breakfast? I love Mary Poppins but don't remember it from when I was a kid. And does anyone know about a dinner or breakfast or ANYTHING with Alice in Wonderland? The only thing I found was for small children and I am a little dissappointed.

More of a general tip than a Disney tip - but be sure to make time to just enjoy each other! You only get one honeymoon so make it special. Leave some time in your schedule to just be spontaneous and have fun.

Alice in Wonderland is usually at the 1900 Park Fare breakfast at the Grand Floridian. We have done this breakfast twice over the past few years and have enjoyed it both times. The Mad Hatter is usually there as well. Have a great trip!

Yes. I would suggest booking several character meals. Do the Hoop Dee Doo Dinner show, or/and the dinner show at the Polynesian Resort. Get the Photopass +, (not just the photopass). Stay on property. I think the animal kingdom lodge could be a romantic resort, but then again any Disney Resort can be romantic so.... We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside (moderate) resort for our Honeymoon and it's romantic there. Well, it was when we stayed there 17 years ago. Best yet, stay club level on property and you will experience pampering at it's ultimate. Well, when we got married money was tight so the following would be my suggested order of preference:

1. Stay On Property
2. Purchase Photopass +
3. Book several Character meals and Dinner Shows
4. Upgrade to Moderate Resort
5. Upgrade to Deluxe Resort
6. Upgrade to Club Level

FYI We made it to #4 on our Honeymoon Trip. And really, no matter how you do this, you'll be on your honeymoon in Disney so.......... congratulations
