I've never been to Universal and was looking at a long weekend to celebrate my kid becoming a teenager this year (how did that happen!) Any input on how bad crowds are mid to late October?? Or any random info that might help a first timer not feel overwhelmed would be greatly appreciated!!

Note that (hopefully) Universal will be having their Halloween Horror Nights every weekend throughout October. That means the Studios side will close at 5 p.m. to day guests (HHN is a separate ticketed event) If you have a park to park pass, you can still hop to the Islands side. HHN impacts the hotel occupancy (the hotels will fill up faster) and the parks tend to be busier during the day.

Expect larger crowds this year since last year hhn was cancelled

I already booked my room for the event and have my tickets for it

(Well, bought the bogo for last year and received notice they are valid for this year )

Weekends brings in more crowds to the park for hhn
If you do your visit M-Tu, daytime park attendance could be lighter

We have had our hotel booked for HHN on site for this October since last October if that tells you anything about HHN’s popularity.

Start watching YouTube videos (from 2019) for October visits to get-a good idea of crowd levels. The studio side closes early on HHN nights, but IOA is open.

Adding, Monday early morning might be the best time, no hhn that night and a lot of on-site guests are sleeping in from hhn on Sunday night. Really Monday-Wednesday isn’t that bad (even though hhn will be on Wednesday night). I would choose Mon-Wednesday for a visit.
