Hi, this is our first trip travelling with some that will be using scooters. I had one question that I haven't been able to find the answer to. Can they transfer to the ride even for those that are equipped for scooters? They mainly need the scooter because they will be unable to walk great distances and would prefer to not have to wait for the ride vehicles that would allow them to remain in their scooters.

Thank you so much for any help. After 10 trips, all the changes with magic bands and fastpasses and now travelling with scooters, I really feel like a newbie! :)

Absolutely! He may transfer to the ride vehicle at any rides he wishes.

If you check out the disABILITIES FAQ sticky near the top of this forum, I think it's post #11 has details of which rides require transfers or not, and there are a few where the ECV is not allowed in the lines so he'll need to transfer to a wheelchair provided at the attraction to go through that queue -- but he will still be allowed to transfer for the actual ride. This is mainly because there is limited space for parking ECVs at the ride loading/unloading area.

Enjoy your vacation!

Thank you so much for the info and for pointing me in the right direction for even more info!!! :goodvibes I will check out that sticky and print the list of rides to take with us!

I have balance issues, so I carry a collapsible cane in the basket of my scooter--it helps a lot with getting in and out of rides, and I can stick it in the mesh pocket of the rides that have them.

Great tip! Thanks!

I thought I remembered once about something that Disney could give you when in line that had a seat that you could use while the line wasn't moving. Does anyone have any idea what I am talking about?

I've never heard of anything like that, but many rides have manual wheelchairs you can transfer into if you prefer to leave the ECV outside the queue. They're easier to get in and out of if you want to walk through part of the queue and sit when it's not moving.

It's not something Disney has, but you can get a rollerator, which is a walker with a seat, so you can sit when not walking (or sit and pull yourself along with your feet if the line is very slow moving). I have heard of some places having ECVs for rent that also walker holder that attaches to the back of the ECV, but I've never seen one myself.
