Hello everyone!

My wife and I are venturing out from our beloved Boardwalk this September and taking a crack at a monorail resort for our September 2015 trip. We really hope to stay in a Grand Floridian studio, but that now seems unlikely. I tried booking as soon as the 7 month window was open but only half a week was available. So I booked the week at BLT lake view and opened 2 waitlists for the week of September 6th through September 13th at VGF one lake view, the other standard view; we really have no preference. We recently bought a loaded contract and were a bit flush with points this year so we thought we would splurge.

The more I think about it, I think I should have booked what was available and waitlisted the rest. Also, I could have walked the reservation.

Would any of you more savvy DVC'ers be willing to assist me with a strategy to secure a stay at VGF? My current best hope is that someone moves the whole week from VGF over to Poly when it opens. Any assistance would be most appreciated.

The shorter the waitlist, the better the chance of success.

If you really want to stay there you could have rented from an owner at 11 months and then rented your points out to help pay for your stay.

Book what you can now. Waitlist the rest. Be prepared to do a split stay.

I think your odds of a full week opening up are probably slim. But, with Poly opening, you never know, it could happen. I'd leave your WL open and see what happens. Can't hurt. Other then that, is seems getting a studio room at VGF is tough. As someone else suggested, you could rent your points and turn around and take that cash and rent from a VGF owner if that is a resort you would like to stay at. Things may die down at VGF. It's still too new to tell how things will play out with Poly opening. Good luck!
