First time wait list....is this right?

I've never wait listed before. Did I do this right?

I tried to get BLT lake view 1BR for Nov 13-19 but only 4 out of 6 nights were available. Our next choice was VWL so I booked that for all 6 nights. We are on wait list at BLT for the full 6 nights. MS said that if all 6 nights are available my VWL reservation would be cancelled and BLT would be booked automatically. Is that correct?

Also, would it be better to book the 4 nights at BLT (while keeping the other 2 at VWL) and hope the 2 nights come through? I guess there would be a better chance of 2 nights coming through than all 6. I really don't want to switch resorts in the middle of our stay so I'm a little reluctant as it's a bit of a gamble.

Yes, it will be done automatically.

As to the other, a 2 night (or 2 separate nights) waitlist stands a better chance of coming through over a 6 night one. But if you're not willing to move during your stay, it maybe a risk you don't want to take by booking the 4 nights at BLT. It's really about what you're willing to do.

Keep in mind you can have 2 wait lists at one time. So you could one wait list for a Magic Kingdom view at BLT and a second wait list for either standard or garden view.

I would assume wait lists requests are first come first serve, so the earlier you put in the request(s) the better off you are...(Could be wrong here)

Well, I decided to cancel the 6 nights at VWL and the wait list for 6 nights at BLT. I booked the 4 at BLT and wait listed the other 2....kept the 2 nights at VWL just in case. I guess there's a better chance of the 2 nights coming through than all 6. If we have to do a split stay, then so be it. Crossing my fingers my wait list comes through. This will be our first time at a MK resort....can't wait!

I think your shorter wait list has a better chance of coming through. We tried to switch from an OKW 2BR to an AKV Kindani 2BR standard or savanna right at 7 months. I could not get all five nights so we went on the waitlist - decided to waitlist just standard view at Kidani and at Jambo, so I will be pretty surprised if we get it. That is fine, though, because we also want to stay at OKW and were torn about switching. On this particular trip we don't want to take any chance of a split stay, but if switching to AKV was that important to us I would have grabbed what I could at 7 months and waitlisted as few nights as possible. Good luck to you - I hope you get the last two nights.

We have a first time wait list too. It will be interesting to see what happens. We are booked for a 2BD at Kidani and have a WL at BCV and BWV - for 11/5 - 12. I have my doubts that either will come through due to the F & W festival. Last year we booked at BCV at 7 months with no problem but it was the week AFTER F & W. I see now how much busier it is one week earlier......
