We usually rent a car and drive to the port but my DH will not be accompanying us on this trip and the transfers are more convenient, We will be staying at the airport the night before and bringing our bags with us to the bus. Once we load the bags onto the bus, do we have to retrieve them at the port and turn them over to a porter or are they transferred from the bus to the ship? Thanks .

When you check in for the DCL transfers, and hand over your bags, they typically go on a truck to the port, not on "your" bus. You won't see them again until they show up at your room later that afternoon.

Thank you Princess Shmoo. I assume I do all of this on the lower level of the Orlando airport somewhere near the Magical Express?

If you go to the Magical Express desk in the lower level,

the DCL check in/buses are directly behind you, by the outside door

We just did this but used the hotels DCL check in service rather than dragging our bags with us to the bus. The hotel is just about on the opposite side of the airport from the DCL buses and it was very convenient to only have to deal with our carry-ons. They did not load our luggage on the bus with us. It looked to me like DCL had trucks next to the buses that they were using.

Yeah, I forgot - @jiminy14 - if you're staying at the MCO Hyatt, when you check in, tell them that you're using the DCL transfers in the morning, and they will add you to the list of rooms to pick up bags from. They (the Hyatt bell service) pick up your bags around 8:00 and give them directly to the DCL transfer truck for delivery to the port.

I have another question, as it is also our first time using DCL transportation. We are flying into MCO early in the morning then taking the transfer directly to the port -- are these big coach style busses? Do they have or require car seats, or can kids just sit in the regular seats? My kids are 7 and 4. Thanks!

They are "regular" buses, sometimes they are the Magical Express buses:

regular seats, with seat belts, no car seats required:

It's been 2 years since we rode the Magical Express, they didn't have seat belts then! New addition? Not sure how I feel about those with a 2 yr old, they aren't safe to use in a regular vehicle, can cause serious internal damage in little ones.
