We are going to wdw for the first time in Oct. Have narrowed down our choices to 2 resorts. Would love some opinions about both. One is YC concierge or WL junior suites. We have 2, 11 year old boys and one 7 year old boy. Any input on anything would be great. We are at the overwhelming feeling right now!!!!

Hi boys, and welcome to the DIS. We have stayed at WL, and it is a great resort. We stayed in a regular room, not a suite. The resort is beautiful, the staff was very helpful. We have not stayed at YC, but we have stayed at BW twice which is in the area of the YC. I would recommend YC because of the easy access to the BW and all the fun your kids could find there. There is a lot to do there especially at night, and there are good restaurants on the BW too. If you stay YC concierge, you should consider the room size. Would all of you be staying in the same room? You may have more space in a junior suite. Hope that helps.

Those are both awesome choices. :) I think you'll just have to decide which theme appeals to you most, and where you'll be spending most of your time. If you think you'll be at MGM and Epcot most days then go with YC... if you think MK is where you want to be, then go WL. You really can't make a bad choice, I've stayed at both and LOVED them for different reasons. :)

Hi Boys!

Both great choices...doesn't WL have bunk bed rooms? Your boys might love that. It's beautiful there...haven't stayed, but spent time there and it's great. Conveniet to Magic Kingdom, if that's where you're spending most of your time.

BUT - I am a HUGE Yacht Club fan! Doing concierge at BC club for the first time at Christmas, so I can't talk about concierge yet. But YC's pool alone can't be beat...it's basically a mini-water park open to only YC/BC guests. If your boys swim, you'll have to pry them out.

Also - the atmosphere is amazing. Very sort of understated elegance, but not at all uncomfortable. You feel like you're at a special place - but everyone is in shorts and flip-flops and it's all good. :)

But the best part to me is the proximity to the Boardwalk and it's restaurants/entertainmet; to Epcot, where you can walk in the back way (no lines!) within 5 minutes; and MGM, which you can reach via boat launch or a nice 15-20 minute walk.

We really, really love it at YC/BC. But I think it depends on what you plan to do....spend most of your time at your own hotel? At MK? Or Epcot/MGM/eating/Swimming????

Hope it helps...ask away if you have more specific questions!

If you can afford YC concierage, I say go for it!!!! Stormalong Bay is the BEST pool in all of WDW, and perhaps the entire WORLD. It is a dream for boys of that age. Plus you will love the proximity to Epcot and MGM, and it will be so easy to return to the hotel for a pool break. I found bus service to MK/AK from the Epcot resorts to be very good.

I know WL is very nice, but I always think of it as a great place to stay at Christmas. The junior suite would probably be roomier, but will you really be in the room that much? I've heard the YC Concierage Lounge is a fabulous place to hang out.
