Hi

We are from the UK and just returned from WDW - as we have now been to Florida 10 (or is it 11) times and Disneyland Paris 4 times, we are thinking it might be time to try somewhere new and the original DL is looking tempting.

However at both WDW and DLP we are used to not having a car and using Disney transportation or walking to the parks (in Paris) - how does DL compare - I hear there are 2 Disney parks - how far are places like Universal Studios?

I have many more questions but this is an obvious starting point. Also as we will need to go for at least 2 weeks - the flight is so long, will there be enough to do?

You definitely do not need a car to do Disney, however Universal, Knotts, etc.. farther and you may want a car to do them. You can get there without a car, if you listen to the DIS Unplugged podcasts on Disneyland there are some great tips for getting to Universal and San Diego (zoo & wild animal park) without a car. It will take longer, but it may be worth it to avoid car rental, parking, etc.

My family goes to DL often, we live in Washington state, we usually only rent a car for the day/days we want to go elsewhere (if we do somewhere other than just Disney). There are several car rental places within walking distance of DL. We have used one that is right by the HoJo on Harbor and the one that is in Downtown Disney (think that one is Alamo).

Since you will be there 2 weeks you will most likely want to do other places besides just DL. But you may not need to rent a car for the whole stay. My dd & I just spent 6 days/5 nights at DLR without renting a car. We used Super Shuttle to/from SNA airport, had Vons delivery groceries to PPH and didn't need a car at all.

I don't think that there would be 2 weeks worth of stuff to do at DL but the LA area has sooooooo many things to do. There is different transportation available, but I do recommend renting a car for a couple of days so you could possibly check out Sea World and places like that if you're interested. If you've never been to the west coast of the states, I highly recommend it. I'm moving there in 3 weeks from the midwest (Indiana) and I can't wait! Good luck planning and I hope you choose to check out DL!

Hey Boo Bear, you forgot to tell them to visit where your moving to. Santa Barbara is very nice, beautiful.
