First time travelling with a scooter - fit in a trunk?

In April we are travelling to Disney World for my wedding. My future mother-in-law is disabled and will need to be using a scooter to get around as she can only walk very short distances.

We have a limo taking us to the Wedding Pavilion from our hotel and she is very concerned about how she will transport her scooter there in the limo and said she'd just go by herself on the monorail. I hate to have her have to do that, especially when the monorails can be unpredictable and we need to have her there in plenty of time.

Are the scooters able to be disassembled easily enough to fit in a trunk or are they still too big for that? I may be able to have them get a wheelchair for her when we get there, but I have a feeling her pride will say she doesn't want that as she doesn't want someone to have to push her.

Any advise on how to make this easier on her is appreciated! Also, any places to make sure for her to avoid that she will not be able to go would be appreciated.

I was a DISbride, too! We had an Escape wedding in June of 2011 at the WP. Congratulations and enjoy every minute of it!

I think your best bet is to ask your coordinator what she thinks. There are definitely scooters that break down enough to fit into a trunk. Is your FMIL bringing her own or renting one from an off site company?

She is renting one from an off-site company, but I don't know which one.

I can definitely ask my coordinator, I just wasn't sure if she would know the answer and thought maybe people here would have more experience with this particular situation than she would. :)

which resort is she staying at that she will be traveling to the pavilion you said she will have to take the monorail so it have to be poly cr or grand. or if she meeting you at one of those resorts then you all going to the pavilion

We both have rooms at the at the Contemporary. The limo would pick up my fiance and his family and drive them over there and then come back for me and my mother who'd be there helping me dress. We're still unsure if the limo will be able to make another trip over to Wilderness Lodge to get the rest of my family, but I am less concerned about them, and at the very least we could rent the limo for another hour to get them all there. But if the limo isn't an option for her, that is when it gets tricky.

She'd take the monorail to the GF and then just ride her scooter over to the pavilion I assume. I am sure her daughter would probably go with her so she wasn't alone at least. But I would still rather have them take the limo if possible.

yes that be the easiest or get of at the poly and use their path which might make for some good pics.

While I agree that would be easiest for most guests, I think OP would prefer that her future mother-in-law arrive with the rest of the groom's family - together in a limo.

OP, you indicated she would be renting an ECV from an off-site vendor - she just needs to request one that can be broken down to fit in a car trunk. Your wedding coordinator should make sure to mention to the limo company that there will be need to transport an ECV in the trunk so they can be prepared (don't surprise the limo with the ECV when it arrives to pick up the groom and his family as they will want to allow a few extra minutes). I'm sure it can be worked out fine.

Congratulations and have a wonderful wedding!

Yes I was just saying that would be the easiest if they had to take the monorail.
