This is the first time I'm going to Disney. I'm super excited. Its going to be me, DH, 14 Step daughter and 2 year old son. I have a couple of questions.

Can I take water bottles and snacks into the theme park?

Anything that we should bring that is a must have? We are going to Magic Kingdom.

Thanks!

Sarah

Welcome!! and congratulations on your 1st trip!!

For the summer months, I always bring a frozen bottle of water and let it melt throughout the day and refill it at the water fountains. As far as snacks goes, I think the official word is that outside food is not allowed, however, bringing a few snacks for your DS is perfectly acceptable. What mom doesn't travel without snacks!! :)
You will definitely need to bring or rent a stroller for the little one. There is a lot of walking involved and unless you want to carry him, he will need a ride of some sort. MK is wonderful. Are you planning to go to any of the other parks??? :) :goofy:

How fun!! You are going to have a blast!
I posted a thread "I wish I brought..." there were so many great things people posted on what to bring.
Have a great time!

I am a single mom with 2 girls and I always take a suitcase filled with snacks and juices. I always make snack packs up the night before and some juices and pack them in my backpack. You go through security checks but they are only looking for weapons etc. I wouldnt go walking in with a huge cooler. Noone ever says anything. You see alot of people eating sandwiches and drinks. I have been going for years and I have never had a problem.

As of now, we are only going to MK. We were thinking of going to Sea World too since my son really really loves fish. We'll see though.

Thanks for all of your help! I've read somewhere that I should bring a bike lock for my stroller. Is this true? I'll be bringing my own stroller since we are driving to Disney.

As far as my understanding, you are not allowed to use bike locks. The CM's do move strollers around as there are usually A LOT parked in one place, and as people come back and get theirs, the CM's will shift the strollers to make room for new ones. I have heard of people figuring out ways to lock the back wheels to each other with some type of bike lock, so that a CM could lift the stroller and push it on the front wheels to move it short distances, but so no one would be able to put a kid in it and leave.

We took our own stroller for a week and had no problems. I was really glad we brought our own as ds was much more comfortable for naps in his own stroller.

I would bring a poncho or rain cover for it. Florida weather is crazy and it can be sunny one minute and pour the next. You dont want your stroller getting soaked while you are on a ride.

We tried the bike lock thing our first trip with our kids. You aren't allowed to lock your stroller TO anything, but we locked a wheel to the frame so no one could use it. Quite frankly, it was a huge pain in the you know what. We finally decided that it wasn't worth it. I don't think theft of strollers is such a large problem, not to say it can't happen, but it wasn't worth ruining our good time worrying about.
