We are going to DLR June 14-19. Staying at HoJo's.
It is me, DH, DS 9 and DD 5.
We will be in the park 3 maybe 4 days.

I have only been once before, on the 4th of July so I didn't really get to experience DL.
My DH has been 5 or so times but never with kids.
Neither of us have been to DCA.

I have been reading all of the tips and things here on the boards but I need a little guidance in finding the info I am looking for.

What kind of things are there to see/do - little known things (at least to me!), like I just read on a thread that Alice in Wonderland plays musical chairs at 2:30 in Coke Corner - I had no idea! How do I find out stuff like that?

My daughter is a big princess fan - what kind of princessy things is there?

Also - can someone explain Priority Seating to me??

One more! The signs for the Jedi Training - what do you guys put on it? "Pick Me - Pick Me" or??

Thanks - so much!

First of all, you're staying at a great hotel.:thumbsup2

I'm not the best when it comes to little known activities, so someone else will have to chime in there. We just look at the park schedule they give you when walking into the parks to find out what's going on when.:goodvibes

Princess stuff - Well, I have two boys, so again I'm not the best person to answer this. One thing that could be fun is eating at Ariel's Grotto (located in California Adventure). During the meal, the princesses come around to meet you, give autographs, and take pictures.

Also, there's Pixie Hollow where you can meet Tinker Bell and some of her pixie friends. And there's Disney's Princess Fantasy Faire, a meet-n-greet at Disneyland where you can meet the princesses, get autographs and pictures.

Priority Seating - it's just a fancy expression for making dining reservations. You can make reservations 60 days out, and I would suggest that you do this for any full service restaurants. Call 714-781-3463.

Jedi Training - you can put anything you want on the sign, like "The force is strong with this one!" and then have an arrow pointing down to your kid. It also helps if he is wearing a Star Wars t-shirt or something like that.

Lastly - hope you have a wonderful trip, and WELCOME to the DisBoards!

Just to clarify on the priority seating...it is NOT a reservation. But it is kind of like one and if you want to eat at a sit down place or character meal it is a must. It just means that you will get seated before any walkups that come along and sometimes they are so "booked" like at blue bayou, that they do not allow walkups at all. :) HTH

Do you have any restaraunts at home that have call ahead seating? it is the same thing they take your name for a specific time and then when you check in you will receive the next available table for your party size, however you will be waiting behind anyone who had a PS for a time before you that is not yet seated and has the same party size. Walk ups will be seated last.

Hi, and welcome to the DIS!

My first bit of advice to you would be to try and make a list of all the things you don't want to miss. You're going to be there during the busy summer season and you have both DL and DCA to cover and just a few days to do it. With kids, that will be a challenge. You may not want to0 try to hard to do the little-known-about/obscure-ish things, ya know? :thumbsup2 Definitely go for FOUR days!

With the Jedi thing... pretty much ANY sign will do. Those of us who have done the sign thing can tell you that it's nearly a guarantee for getting picked.

Disneyland's website has always referred to priority seating as a reservation, so I'm not sure what the difference is.

Anyway, I would make a whatever you want to call it for any full service restaurant.:goodvibes

Regarding Jedi Training, I agree that any pictures or verbiage on the sign will do. The main thing is for them to hold the sign high, jump up & down & be enthusiastic. :yay: (a unique or colorful shirt would probably be good too).

Since i haven't shamelessly plugged the Jedi thread in awhile....I'll do so now:cool2:

You've probably already seen it, but others might find the Jedi Training info helpful or interesting. :darth:

Have a great time at Walt's Park. :thumbsup2

you can take your daughter to the Princess Fantasy Fair, the princesses read stories and then theres a show too, where the kids get to do a maypole with the princesses its pretty cute. princess:

The only PS Ive ever used is for dinning and it works like making a reservation you just call and someone walks you through it. For restaurants it doesn't cost anything. :thumbsup2

I havn't done it yet, but I was thinking of making my sister a sign that said
I HAVE A HIGH META CHLORINE COUNT....AKA THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH ME. But I havn't really decided yet. :darth:

You can find out about stuff like the Alice in wonderland thing in town hall which is on mainstreet as a matter of fact you can find most stuff out there if you have any questions while on your trip.:teacher:

Hope that helps and have a great trip!!!:wizard:
