:cool1: Woo-hoo---DH and I are so excited and our DD's don't know. We are surprising them. I have a couple of questions:

1) Can anyone tell me where the closest grocery store is. We'll need to have milk in our room. (we're staying at GCH)

2) What is the weather like right now? Last week on the internet it said it would be in the 80's and low 90's. Then I checked yesterday and it said only in the low 70's....ugh! What is right?? Anyone there right now. We'll be there Sun-Thurs.

3) Are there ANY firework shows going on right now?

4) We're thinking of going to the Disney Soda Shop on Thurs. Has anyone been there? Is it fun?

THANKS!!!!!

Okay, I'll take a stab at it!

1) There is a 7-11 around the corner on Harbor, otherwise we get our milk at the SuperTarget about a mile away on Harbor. But I would get two half gallons or a few pints, something easier to store in the fridge!

2) Not sure, but I know its' warm!!

3) Yes, there are fireworks right now. How many and what days will you be there?

4) Never heard of it!

This is the only question to which I know the answer. Fireworks are showing only on Fri/Sat/Sun over the next week. Your only chance to see them will be Sunday night. I urge you in the strongest terms to see this show. It is more than fireworks, with lasers and special effects. Many of the effects are shown on and around the castle, which means the best place to see the show is from the hub area or far down Main Street towards the hub. If you do this, make sure you get a spot with a clear view of the castle. I promise you will be glad you made the effort to see this and get a good spot.

I'm afraid I can't answer your questions, but I wanted to second this. We went for the first time last April and I am so glad we didn't miss the fireworks, it was spectacular, my absolute favorite part of the trip, I insisted that we watch them both nights that we were in the park.

Thanks....but unfortunately we aren't going to the parks til Mon. Do you think we would be able to see them from the GCH???

You can see them somewhat (the higher ones) from the esplanade or from certain hotel balconies but it does not do it justice at all!!

We are also going for the first time we leave next week  Its also a surprise for our 3 boys. We are staying at the GC too! Have fun and report back!!!

4) I think the Disney soda shop is in LA near the Disney theater. But some one on this BB will know for sure.

Since Remember Dreams Come True is so much more than a fireworks show, if you see them from outside the park you will only get 5% of the experience - if that.

Since I made the big plug above, any chance you can add one day onto your multi-day tickets and go in to DL and see them on Sunday night? The cost of going from a 4 day to a 5 day ticket is only $10 a person. If you do what I suggest, you will come back here after your trip and thank us profusely for making you do this. :thumbsup2

Can I do that---I got my tix thru AAA?

Yes. You can take your ticket to the ticket booth and tell them you want to add a day onto it.

However, now that I think of it, there may be a gotcha that makes this cost extra. If you got your tix at a discount - which may be the case when you pre-purchase - either from the Disney site or AAA - when you add the 5th day they may charge you the difference in your discounted price and the gate price.

Example.

If you look on the DLR website (and forget about the adults at kid price promotion) you can pre-purchase a 4 day ticket for $179, but the gate price for this ticket is $209.

You can pre-purchase a 5 day ticket for $189, but the gate price for this ticket is $229.

When you pre-purchase 5 days rather than 4 days, it is an extra $10 (189 instead of 179).

BUT, if you try to upgrade from 4 days to 5 days at the gate, they may make you pay the full 5 day gate price (229). So to upgrade at the gate may cost $50 (229 - 179) per person.

It all depends on their policy and what the value is of your pre-purchased tickets. I know when I got a quote from AAA for a package, they quoted me the full gate price - even though it was a pre-purchase. So you may have already paid the gate price.

To get the bottom line answer, take your ticket to the ticket booth on Sunday and ask them how much it would cost to add a day. They may be able to do this at the GCH concierge. If it is $10 a person and you think it is worth it, then pay for the extra day and you are on your way. If they quote you something higher, then you will have to make an on the spot decision based on the cost they quote you.

I have never done this at DLR, but have done it at WDW. I know DLR does this too, though. I just have not done it there.

One final gotcha. It would be disappointing to do all of the above to get into DL only to have the fireworks cancelled. If the weather is bad, or it is windy, do not do it as the fireworks are in jeopardy of getting cancelled. If the weather looks good, and you pay to upgrade and go into DL, the fireworks may still end up getting cancelled (DL has restrictions based on winds at higher altitudes because of the residential areas). In which case you may be ticked off because the only reason you paid to upgrade was to see the fireworks. That is a risk you would have to take. IMO the risk is acceptable if the weather looks good.

A "7/11" 24 hr convenience store on the NW corner of Harbor Blvd and Katella Ave and a Target is on the eastside of Harbor Blvd before Chapman Ave, south of the Resort.

Today in Anaheim (3/16) was really warm and sunny, but I wouldn't call it hot. High 70s/low 80s maybe... but it was also pretty humid. Once the afternoon breeze started, it was a nice day in Anaheim.
But I am more of a low 70s fan. :cool2:

The present forecast for Anaheim is...
Updated: 1:00 AM PDT on March 17, 2007 - Saturday: 75 °F and Clear, Sunday: 70 °F and Clear, Monday: 65 °F and Partly Cloudy, Tuesday: 64 °F and Chance of Rain (20%), Wednesday: 63 °F and Partly Cloudy...

3) Are there ANY firework shows going on right now?

Remember... Dreams Come True, is scheduled for Fri, Sat and Sun at 9:25pm each night until Spring Break in April and then Remember... will run nightly for a few weeks, then go back to Fri/Sat/Sun nights until summer/June.

4) We're thinking of going to the Disney Soda Shop on Thurs. Has anyone been there? Is it fun?

It is fun.

It has cool theming, some fun Disney Soda Shoppe specific merchandise and yummy ice cream treats!

It's also right next door to Disney's beautifully restored El Capitan Theater (movies) and across the street from Graumans Chinese Theater (movies & sightseeing), the Kodak Theater (stage fuctions) and the Hollywood Television Museum (tour)
....and of course they are all on the world famous and always fun Hollywood Blvd. It's a bit of a drive, that can take over an hour sometimes, from the DLR to Hollywood...especially with traffic.
But it's always fun when I go!

THANKS!!!!!

Have fun... :)
