Hello all, I am trying to plan my first trip to Disney world Florida with my cousin, and would like to know how long to stay to try and do and see everything that Disney World has to offer. Could anyone help me out please and thank you very much.

Scott

It is almost impossible to see and do everything in one trip. Plus, not really advised to try.

If you can stay for 10 days you will have a good chance to do most things. However, going to the parks everyday for 10 days will be exhausting. Plan as many days as you can and be sure to include a couple of days to just relax at the pool. I can tell you from personal experience when you try to 'go commando' at WDW it's not as much fun as a more laid back plan. Anything that you don't see this time around will be there for the next trip.

Hello Thank you very much for all your advice. I was thinking if we go for 8 nights and 9 days that would give us 7 full days of fun. could we visit all the parks within the 7 days, but not doing everything that is since it is our first trip any where. And what would you suggest for the 7 full days that we are there. I know 1 st day is to relax and take in DW and the last day (day 9 would be to relax some more before going home.) but what would you suggest for the other 7 days that we are there. ( sorry for repeating my self a few times)

If you want to include the waterparks and Disney Quest then it would be one place per day for 7 days. If you only want to do the theme parks plan 2 days for Epcot, 2 days for MK, 1 day for AK, 1 day for DHS and then on the last day return to your favourite.

A good tip is to plan ahead which attractions are absolute must do's in each park. Get those done first and then use the rest of your day to do the other things in the park. I would suggest that if you plan on doing 7 straight days you stay onsite and take a mid-day break back at the resort. You can take a swim or just rest in the room for a few hours. It really does make a difference.

I would also suggest to stay on site and take advantage of the MMH.

Extra Magic Hours - there are specific days and parks where you have extra hours in the park at the beginning or end of the day if you are staying at a WDW resorts hotel.

The other benefits are that you do not need a car while you are there. Disney's Magical Express will get you and your luggage from and to the airport at no additional charge.

Stay at a Value Resort. They are quite economical.

Pick up a guide book such as Birnbaum's.

I would recommend 10 day visit.

7 days for the parks, a couple of days for the water parks and 1 day for whatever. I'm not sure of the cost of 10 day park passes versus 7 days. But if you go when free dining is available, probably best to get the extra meals with the 10 day pass.

As a 1st timer, we never did do any park hopping as there was way to much for us to see and do in each park. Depending on when you go, the water parks are a must, especially in the summer months - you won't regret it.

Scott, Congratulations!! What you and your cousin want to see will be a very personal thing...everyone has different favorites. Some love the shows, parades, others want just thrill rides. It will depend upon your ages as well.
What I would suggest is signing up on the wdw website and starting a list of your favorites. You can make personalized maps and trip plans on there.

There are also a ton of great guide books you can purchase. I used to buy the Birnbaum's guide books and highlight things that interested me as I went along. This year, though, I have borrowed a few different books from the library and just made notes on the computer as I read.

Good point about the free dining......Scott, if you can go during this period you will have the chance to also experience the fantastic restaurants that WDW has to offer. If you want to do this you need to make your reservation NOW. The resorts are very busy during this time. I can't remember the exact start date for the promotion but it's around August 25 and it goes thru Sept. 20/08. You must book by June 22/08. We did it last year and loved it. I'm very disapointed that we have to go this year in July and can't take advantage of the free dining.

First of all i would like to thank all of you for all of your input, it is making it alot easier to go to Disney world since i have never been on a trip and kind of nervice on going onto a plane for the first time but i am pretty sure it will be all fine. We where thinking on going in August of next year. Know for Disneyrookie2007 that would be 9 nights and 10 day stay at disney world ?? is that correct.

Also any advice that would make the trip alot smother would be a grate help.

Order the free vacation planning DVD! Pop that baby into the DVD player and it will motivate you to dig into the guidebooks and do the research.

You can order it online from:
http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/index
There's a button near the top for Free Vacation Planning DVD. Click on that and fill in your info. (People say you are more likely to get a coveted "code"... a discount you can use for your package... if you give them an e-mail address here)

yeah i already have the vacation planning DVD to figure out where to stay for next summer 2009.

9 nights and 10 days would be correct.........it really depends on when you arrive and when you leave. On our last trip, we arrived arounnd 11am and our room was already available......this gave us almosty 3/4 of a day to visit a park. When we left, our flight was at 6pm...allowing an additional morning of activities.

Stay in a value resort...........you won't be spending much time in your room anyways and they are still very quite nice........utilize the magical express and don't worry about your baggage.......they will deliver to your room with a few hours of your arrival.

If you plan on going in August, be prepared for HOT & HUMID weather. Buy a misting fan!! Be prepared to get to the parks very early in the morning to take advantage of the cooler temps.........during the hot part of the day, you might want to head back to your resort for a dip in the pool or a nap.........the hot humid weather will drain your energy level. Head back to the park in the evening hours - a park hopper is not needed if you visit the same park in the same day.

A thundershower is almost a certainty during the afternoons. Bring a 2nd pair of comfortable shoes to use to give your feet a break. Nothing worse than blisters on your first day - you'll be doing tons of walking while you're there - pack some moleskin in case a blister develops - this saved my feet the last time !

Purchase the water parks and more option............you'll thank me later, especially if you're going in August!!

Keep your eyes open to when the Free Dining Plan is offered........usually announced the first week of april , I believe. The offer is usually good from the last week of August into mid September. This will save you a bundle of $$ on food and permit you to try some fancier restaurants you might otherwise avoid due to the pricing. Some of the nicer restauarants are also found on the higher-end resorts - keep this in mind when deciding where to eat. Advance reservations will be needed and can be made up to 180 days before your arrival - these are necessary if you want to experience the finer restaurants - otherwise they book up early and you might not get a table.

Make a list of MUST SEEs for each park - do them early in the day and use fastpass where needed. Once your MUST SEEs are done, you'll be more relaxed to see and do other things.

I'm sure I'll think of something else...............:goodvibes
