What to expect?

FTR We've stayed at Hojo's, CCI, and Desert Inn.

DH and I stayed at the Fairfield in February of this year. We have a Fairfield Inn in the Seattle area that we have stayed at a few times and I would say the Anaheim one is not quite as nice. I would compare it with the Anaheim Hojo. It had nice amenities like a fridge and pretty sure there was a microwave too. It was very clean but the bathroom was on the small side. The beds were really nice and I don't remember hearing our neighbors. It is nicer than the Carousel Inn I think. Mcdonalds is right in the parking lot, you walk by it on your way to and from the park. The walk was very doable and I would definitly stay there again. We got a geat price and the staff was very nice.

I agree with FourM's & have stayed there twice. A few additional comments:

- Basic Fairfield. Clean but not fancy.
- Plain featureless (but very clean & very much used) pool sitting basically in the parking lot.
- Speaking of the lot....it's sometimes hard to find a spot after 3pm.
- Unlike other Fairfields, no free b'fast (but not a big deal since you can throw a rock & hit McDs).
- Not a good use of "Marriot Points" since it's a 2 star hotel & charges 5 star points.
- They have a cool fold out chair that a 6-10 y/o kid would like to sleep on.

A good place for a small family wanting clean & walking distance to the parks.

Have a great time.

:)

We have stayed there maybe...twice? We had no problems with it whatsoever. As previously mentioned...definitely not fancy but safe and clean! and the walk to the park isn't bad at all!

My BIL stayed there since the Hojo was booked (we stayed at Hojo) he visited us over at the Hojo and said our room and hotel was much nicer. Nothing bad about the FFI, just no frills, nothing special.

I read somewhere that FFI had or is or will refurb all the rooms.

Does anyone know anything about this?

We had no problems with it. Room with 2 beds and a small bed for our 7 year old...a pull out chair. We stayed summer of 2010 one week in July. I used our reward points for our stay.

Check in was easy, hotel easy to get to after a long drive.

Our room was overlooking the park and we saw fireworks from the balcony the night we arrived.

Our a/c didnt work. It was tempermental. I think they actually control it elsewhere as we set it on one temp and it would be hot in the middle of the night. Maintenance could never fix it so we went out to buy a fan.

McDonald's is right next door. They also had a pizza hut inside as well and fresh lemonade in the reception area. They have a small gift shop to get snacks, first aid equipment and yes...souvenirs!

It was not a long walk at all to Disney.

It was not dirty or unsafe. Just not a Marriott of "higher" standards.

Have heard from several other people on this board that they were refurbing about a month back - they saw the trucks with new mattresses, furniture, etc while they were staying there. Not sure when its going to be complete.
As others have said its basic Fairfield, maybe a bit stripped down so if it wasn't for the location it would definitely not qualify as the Marriott Cat 5 its purported to be. However, it is IMHO much much nicer than the Desert Inn where my brother stayed last trip - saw the room there and it was much more motel-ey than FF, FF is at least trying to be a hotel and keeps Marriott basic standards. Never seen CCI room so can't help you there but its probably on par with HoJo's rooms from what I've seen (though never stayed - just seen friends' rooms). So if you were okay with Desert Inn you'll be very happy with FFI. :goodvibes And I'll let you know about the refurb for sure in a bit since I'm staying there two weeks from tomorrow! :cool1:

I have never stayed at the FFI. This will be my first stay in June, but they have a Disney Memories promo on the Marriott webpage where if you book a Disney themed room (renovated room) for 4 nights, you receive an in-room movie and a disney gift card. I called the front desk to ask about the rooms and was told they have a few floors of themed rooms, such as Princesses, Nemo, toy story. She said you have to request the specific character 2 days before your stay. She reported that the renovations were done. Most rooms will look like your typical FF decor, except for themed rooms. All will have flat screen TV's as well. :goodvibes

Thanks for all the info!

Yeah, DI is not my idea of anything spectacular. It's close and can be cheap. I prefer Hojo's or CCI. We have Marriott gift cards, hence the FFI ressies :)

We have stayed there several times and staying again soon. We dont mind it. It isn't as nice as the GCH where we usually stay but we did like it much better than our hojo room if only because the walk is shorter to the park. Also liked grabbing a quick drink of water on our way in on a hot day. We haven't had any issues with our rooms being dirty like we did at the hojo. I guess all the hotels along harbor are fairly similar, nothing special or great but hopefully a clean room to rest at night. Enjoy your trip!
