The title pretty much says it all. I'm nervous that I didn't make the right decision, and I really want to have a great time with my husband. I'm excited about being in close proximity to MGM and Epcot - we loved staying at BCV in the past but we couldn't get in there for this trip. What are some other things I'm going to enjoy while staying there? How will it look at Christmastime?

You will love the location! That is my favorite thing about the Boardwalk. The Christmas decorations in the lobby are beautiful. A chocolate rollercoaster! My husband likes being close to ESPN!

Jellyrolls!!!! Looking out at the Yacht and Beach Club, people watching, drinks on the balcony, Spaceship Earth lit up at night and just being at Disney.

You'll love that this is the best DVC resort there is. The reason you see everyone saying the other resorts are so great is because they don't want everyone to figure out that this one is the best and start filling it up all the time. ;)

Seriously, I love this resort. I like the fact that it's located between Epcot and MGM, so I can walk to either park faster than taking the boat. I love sitting in my room at night listening to all the activity on the Boardwalk below. There's nothing better than sitting on my balcony watching the performers directly below me. I've gotten great front row seats for the tuba band, the Boardwalk Buskers, the sword guy, etc.

As for the BCV... What's so great about it is that it's close to the BWV. ;)

Oh yes I remember seeing the rollercoaster on a special on WDW a while back!

Hmm...we've never been to Jellyrolls. DH has a t-shirt from there, but I don't think he's ever been in the place. We might have to go this trip - I mean, it's not like we'd have to walk far to get home!

Ok, you guys have sold me. Maybe we'll have found another "favorite resort" to stay in when we're in WDW. I'm so glad I asked!

Now do you wants the cons? ;) Just kidding. We wouldn't talk about them anyway. :lmao:

Seriously, both BWV and BCV are great resorts that I feel are pretty much equal. Where BCV has Stormalong Bay right there, the BWV has the Boardwalk. While BCV is a little bit closer to Epcot, the BWV is nicely situated between Epcot and MGM. Because I love watching the activity, the BWV is my number one choice. But, if you like one, you'll definitely like the other.

My DW and I love the lobby decorations at Christmas, drinks at the Bellevue Room, sundaes at Seashore Sweets, the BW buskers, walking back after IllumiNations, proximity to EPCOT and MGM, dining at FF AND the points for a standard studio are less than at BCV. :thumbsup2

The only thing you might miss is Stormalong Bay, but pools are not a big deal to us. The "Clown" pool and quiet pool at BW are pretty nice. Besides, you can still stop at BCV for the gelato. We always do even when we are not staying there. ;)

You won't be disappointed. We have three nights there in December and hoping that our waitlist comes through for the rest.

The stroll back to the room, especially at night. :thumbsup2

Believe it or not, all the times we stayed at Beach Club we've only been to Stormalong Bay once. We're jacuzzi people :thumbsup2 so we usually just use the quiet pool.

I was already looking forward to this trip because it's been a crazy couple of months, but after hearing the reviews I'm looking forward to it even more. Thanks everyone!

P.S. Jade, your siggy picture is awesome!

I love sitting on my balcony early in the morning watching the boardwalk slowly come alive. The joggers are out so I watch them from the comfort of my room as I drink my coffee.

We just got back yesterday. We didn't have a Boardwalk view but had a great view of the Swan, Dolphin, the canal and Yacht and Beach club. It was really beautiful at night - which was the only time it was cool enough for us to actually sit on the balcony! We really enjoyed the resort. ESPN Club was a hit, as was Spoodle's. Walking to Epcot was great! No waiting for transportation after Illuminations was one of the highlights. We still love our home resort - SSR - but would definitely enjoy staying at the Boardwalk again!

When we were touring different resorts back in '03, we stopped at BW, just to see what it was like. We had never been to the resorts on the 'hindside' of Epcot. But, my dh told me if he ever wanted to buy DVC, that's where he would do it, and only there. 4 months later, we were owners!! And I'm so happy that's where we bought. Yes, sometimes those hallways get reeeeally long. But, those rooms have some of the best views as well, as long as being very quiet. So, there are good sides to a bad side.
We love the quiet pools, the Keister Coaster at Luna Park. We've used the hottubs on occasion but they seem to be overrun with kids a lot. We did stay at BCV one time so that we could compare. While we liked the area, SAB just wasn't as big a deal as I had thought it would be. Even my dd, now almost 14, wasn't all that crazy about it and said she really liked the slide at Luna Park better.
I love sitting on the balcony, early in the morning, watching the boardwalk coming to like. I love sitting out there at night, watching the entertainment below. I love the jazzy music. I love the lobby, all decorated for the holidays. Although, the roller coaster hasn't been there for a few years. I love the Bakery very early in the morning...yum!! Seashore Sweets is a family favorite when returning from Epcot at night...gotta have that ice cream.
Love being able to walk to both Epcot and MGM. Or, if I choose, I can take a boat. Love being able to walk over to the Swan or Dolphin for a change of restuarant venue.

From one Firefighter wife to another......you will LOVE it!!! Have a great trip!!

When we joined DVC (SSR Owners), we stayed there and loved it. But, we also want to try all the resorts. The one issue with that is being disappointed when a resort does not live up to expectations.

All I can tell you is that personally we loved BWV. We stayed last October and thought it was great. Being able to walk to Epcot (for the F&W fest plus Fireworks) was amazing. We really enjoyed the resort and all it had to offer.

The Boardwalk itself is a lot of fun at night. Lots of fun sideshows etc...

I cant imagine you not enjoying it. As for Christmas, I am sure they do a great job as with all the other resorts. We are planning a December Vacation next year

ENJOY

We bought in to BWV in '99 and have never looked back. The resort itself is a testement to the early '20 and the ragtime era. The convience of being able to walk to 2 parks, or ride the boat depending on how fast you want to get there and the multitude of resturants to choose from from the Swan/Dolphin to World Showcase, to all the nightime entertainment. To us it's the BOMB!!:hippie:

One of our all time fav things to do is walk over to the Bridge between Boadrwalk and Yacht Club and watch Illuminations. You will see 90% of the fireworks from there and the boats go right under you feet, kinda cool at night as they have all their lights on.:)

Christmas time is beautiful, the lobby is decorated with huge string of garland just covered in huge oriments, the Boardwalk itself is decorated with lights, garland, there is a big tree out on the green, holiday music appropiate to the era is played all along the walk, and edible holiday creations are to neat!!

I could go on and on... Just ENJOY yourselves!!!!!!!!

Lots of glowing reviews here! I'm really looking forward to this trip - mostly because it's the first time DH and I are going to WDW without anyone else (we don't have children yet but we usually bring his family or mine with us). But I'm also looking forward to trying out this resort. We've stayed at a lot of places on property, and I have to say we have yet to find one that we didn't like at least a little, for one reason or another.

I know this is going to be a great trip, and hopefully I'll be able to post a trip report after so that you can all know what I thought about BWV.

Definitely try to eat at the Flying Fish. Check out the menu on Allearsnet. It is one of our favorite restaurants on the Boardwalk. The boatride to MGM is great. We always just get off at the Swan/Dolphin on the way back from MGM and walk back to the Boardwalk. Saves time and it is fun to take in the sights, especially at night when the performers are out.
Have a wonderful trip!:santa:
