First time split stay & AP - getting confused

Hello everyone! Normally when I got to WDW, I stay at one resort of the entire trip and just get a 10 day ticket. I know exactly what to do there with ADRs and FPs. However this next trip is going to be very different for me and I'm starting to get confused.

We are doing a split stay for 2 weeks and getting APs.
Oct 21 - Oct 28 @ AKL
Oct 28 - Nov 4 @ Riviera

I assume, that at the 180 day mark I will only be able to make ADRs for the first week and that I'd have to wait a week before I can start booking the second part of my trip, since it's a split stay. Is this correct? I'm guessing I won't be able to book for the first 10 days.

My same question apples for FPs at 60 days. Will I only be able to book FPs for the first 7 days? Then will I have to wait a week before I can book the second part? I'm not 100% clear on whether or not APs have different rules.

Also, does anyone have any good strategies for getting the hard to get ADRs and FPs with a split stay?

Thanks for any tips/input! For the first time in a long time, I feel confused about booking a WDW trip!

Given the trip dates and resort accommodations you describe, you will have 2 ADR windows that open at the start of each stay and 1 FP window that opens at the start of stay #1 covering both stays.

Enjoy your trip!

Are you a DVC member? If so, you can call DVC Member Services and have them do the ADRs for the 2nd half of the split stay.

Not sure re: FPs, though, because APs are typically limited to how many days they can schedule FPs, except when staying on property, but there may be some hoops to go through there too.

I’m not a DVC member anymore, I’m just renting points for this trip.

That was what I was confused about with the FPs. I read that APs can only book 7 days worth. But I’m also staying on property so I don’t know which rule trumps which. I’ll try calling to see if someone can confirm that part.

Thank you both for your responses!

Length of on site resort stay FP privileges override the AP FP limit. I wouldn’t bother calling, the chances of getting an untrained CM are high. You will get better information on sites like this.
