I just got a free round trip from Southwest Airlines and I want to go to Disney!! My family usually takes a vacation every summer but this summer my parents are taking my sister on college visits, anddddd there is no family vacation :( I kind of just want to go fly down and stay a few nights in the hotel and maybe even just do the parks for a day or two, and just relax. What do you all do on your solo trips? Where is the best place to stay? TIA!

Do it! It's so fun! If this is your first solo trip, I would suggest that you stay somewhere where YOU feel comfortable. I stayed at POP for my 1st solo trip and loved it. The price was right and I was barely in the room for more than sleeping and showering.

I'm staying at a MOD this time because I plan to take it a little easier (not so commando) and perhaps enjoy the resort a bit.

What do I do? Whatever I want :) I go to whatever park is least crowded on that particular day, I plan a couple of TS dinners as a treat, and I end most nights at a bar/club of some sort. I usually go to Jellyrolls but I'm planning on trying out the Adventurer's Club at least once this time.

I stayed at Pop on my solo trip. I was often out of thr room from 7 in the morning till midnight, so I didn't much care about the hotel. I think I did make it into the pool once...

Anyway, it really is lovely to do what you want, when you want! Think I could drig my family around from dusk till....whenever and repeat the next day? No way. I think I only did one TS--but would not hesitate to do more if I was not looking at the budget issues.

Have a great trip!

Thanks so much! I have stayed at a Mod and loved it, CSR to be exact. But I don't think I would feel comfortable alone at a value or a mod seeing as how the corridors are outside! I don't know if that is crazy of me, because I'm sure it could be just the same at a deluxe. I'm excited!!

I have gone solo so many times. I have the best fun. Go and enjoy it. I do whatever my heart desires, and no one complains. I usually stay in the resort that strikes my mood at the time. So for me, it might be value (Pop only), mods, deluxes, or DVC's. Hmmm, just thinking about another trip. Be careful, once you go solo...;)

No kidding. My son's MIL commented just before my trip earlier this month that she couldn't imagine why I'd want to go by myself again. I said something to the effect that now that I'd experienced it by myself, I was having a hard time getting excited about going with other people ;)

I agree with what has been suggested, there is so much you can do as a solo... even some time lounging by the pool.. but look at the emh for the parks and take advantage of them... and JRs and AC are fun!!!

Stayed at POP for my first solo b/c it was a budget factor, plus I was hardly in my room. I had no problems feeling unsafe on my own, and my room was at the back by the lake - pretty view, and lots of lighting at night. Lots of families and staff around all day long, so you wouldn't have any security issues in the value resorts.
My next solo for my 40th later this year (have told no one yet, still planning:rolleyes1 ) I want to stay at one of our DVC resorts as my AP will have expired, and I'd really like to just relax and enjoy the resort more.
You'll love doing what you want when you want, and I especially liked being alone in my room with no one to share the bathroom or the remote!
Enjoy - and beware as you'll be planning your next solo as soon as you get home!:thumbsup2

A most happy birthday to you, I know it is a bit early, but that is o.k. :)
I hope that you have a most wonderful time, and that the lines will not be long, nor will there be any big heat issues, I personally do not do well in the heat, and if I am hungry as well, OMG! :scared1: everyone watch out! :rotfl:
I agree,:lmao:.

That is most wonderful! where do I sign up for a free r/t from SW airlines? ;)
Definitely go, and enjoy yourself! live in the moment, or at least try to :)
do not worry about safety issues, for as long as you are aware of your surroundings, and you know that you are not going to be visiting gangland, just as an example, don't worry about it.
I typically go out and about by myself, and I don't have an issue with it. but then I am use to doing that. For as long as you are comfortable in your own skin, and listen to your inner voice, you will be in great shape! :) also, you normally really are never alone, by yourself, yes, but not alone, for between hotel staff and security, other guests, police on the street, security at the parks, and all of the many people in between, there is always someone to chat with too, if you feel like it. I can be with a group of people, and still talk to strangers. :) :flower3:

I love that! :rotfl: :lmao: :cool1:  :woohoo: :flower3:

I have gone on two solo trips so far and both were fantastic. The first was better than the second bc the first one I planned to go solo; the second I ended up going alone because my husband couldn't make the trip at the last moment. The fact that the second solo trip was not planned was the difference in experiences. It's one thing to go alone if you plan on it, another to expect to go with someone and end up going alone.

That said, both trips were great. Trip no. 1 I stayed at Pop Century. I combined this trip with seeing my beloved Dodgers in Spring Training in Vero Beach, Fl. That was great bc it was something I had waited my entire life to do. Pop Century is a great resort. It's a bit small if you are with other people, but as a solo it's spacious.

Second trip I stayed at POR. I love this resort. It's beautiful. I love the grounds; taking the boat to DD; and eating breakfast at Boatwright's (yum, sweet potato pancakes).

I go to Disneyland all the time by myself. About once a month. No biggie bc I live in San Diego. A major trip to WDW is a bit different. I really enjoy, in both cases, the luxury of being able to do what I want, when I want. I also love taking a long soak in the tub each nite and having my pick of tv, etc. :happytv: It's just nice to be in total control.

I think you will have a great time. Enjoy.

Just got back from a "not so solo" solo trip. . .LOVED IT. . .I met many DISers here.

Hotels: I stayed at Pop because that is where the majority of the people were staying. It was nice, but after visiting a couple staying at the Boardwalk, I now want an Epcot location. Loved walking back to the room in the evenings or taking the boat. Great fun. My august trip will be to the Boardwalk. Its a lovely hotel as is the Yacht and Beach club resorts. I truly believe that those would be the best choices on property. walking or boat to two parks. The choice of Bus or Monorail (if you choose to go through Epcot) to Magic Kingdom and a bus to Animal Kingdom. This totally sounds like my kind of vacation. It will be perfect since I am meeting a friend there so I know I am going to have a great time.

For you dear, just trust your instinct and stay where you feel most comfortable. By the way, I would not hesitate to stay at the Swan/Dolphin resorts as these are beautiful and nestled perfectly in between Boardwalk, and Yacht and Beach Clubs. . .with their own boat launch. . .sometimes you can get really great deals on these hotels and they are deluxe all the way. The only drawback is no Magical Express. . .but for the savings you could always book your own private car. . .lol

:wizard: I'm taking my first solo trip to mousefest Dec 10-15...I can't wait. I plan on doing the mega meet, but also doing things solo. I have started thinking about what I want to do that I have missed doing while traveling with DH and kids! keys to the kingdom tour, streetmosphere actors, taking in the wonders of the world (which can not truely be done with 3 kids in tow!!)

From what I have read on here...I'll be planning my next trip soon after getting back! Maybe we'll do the family tirp in the spring, and I'll do my solo trip in the winter!!

Have fun planning:wizard:
