Hi friends! I just got back from a 5 day trip to Disney World at the beginning of the month, where I tore my plantar fascia (the tissue on the bottom of my foot). My friend had some miles from his business, so now I have last minute plans to visit them in Burbank this weekend. Two trips in one month - I feel so bougie! 🤣

The "problem" is that we have tickets for Universal Studios Hollywood. I'll need to rent a scooter, since my boot makes walking difficult (and honestly I'm in too much pain to stand for that long right now, anyways.) I read that they are available to rent at the entrance for $75, but that they run out quick. Is this my best option, or should I be looking at outside companies?

Thanks in advance for all of your help. This community truly is the best!

Sorry to hear about your foot. I would recommend renting from a 3rd party vendor. I rented from Walker Mobility and the scooter can be taken apart so, that you can take it in your vehicle. They deliver and pick up the scooter from your resort. It also came out way cheaper than having to pay $75.00 a day at the park. My other fear from renting at the park is that they told me it's first come first serve and I just couldn't afford to chance it. My scooter battery lasted me the entire day at the park! Hope this recommendation helps you out.

I do recommend renting from a third party vendor but I have two things to say in regards to USH DAS

1) their DAS system is very different. You are basically given a return time at certain attractions depending on what the wait time is.

2) and this one I deem VERY important: Do the lower lot first. You will take an elevator and then wait for a shuttle. They will then shuttle you down to the lower lot. You do the reverse coming up. And no it’s not the same elevator they use to get to the tram tour. Legit it was the one thing in USH we were disappointed by. We understand there is a mountain but there has to be a better ADA compliant way to get down to the lower lot.

Enjoy your trip!

I rented an ECV for HHN last year and the amount of time we wasted waiting for that bus was ridiculous.

Do you know why we can't take the regular elevator to the lower lot?

So there is no elevator past that first one you go down to wait for that bus. Which is insane and the one big con to USH. Personally, they need to rethink that. Especially given that bus goes the tram tour route, there has to be ADA compliance rules from all the unions working for film and tv from SAGAFTRA to IATSE and everything in between. Something needs to be done.

And the ramp being the same to disembark and embark the bus is dangerous too.

The only good thing was the day I was there they ramped up busses when we were heading back up. So we didn’t wait as much. Probably because it was a Friday afternoon in the summer, but it was nice to see.

Next time I go I may just take my rollator and fold it up to take the escalator - we paid for express pass so thankfully didn't have to worry too much about lines.
