We reserved concierge 2 bedroom for last week Sept/first week of Oct. at our home resort AKV.
Yesterday, I needed to add an extra day for the day before our original Sunday arrival.
There were no concierge rooms available for that night so they booked me into a 2 bedroom value for that night. They put me on the waiting list for a concierge room so we would not have to move our room on Sunday. My understanding is that they will automatically change my reservation to the 2 bedrrom concierge if it becomes available but how will I know if this happens? Will it appear on the member's website?
Also, what are the chances that the wait list will come through for me?
I don't mind the value room for the night I just hate the idea of being in limbo for 5 hours or so until our room is available on Sunday.

I never did the waitlist before so I am clueless as to what happens.
Thanks so much!:thumbsup2

If you get the waitlist, it will appear on the member site. You will also get a printed confirmation in the mail about 7-10 days after.

Yes, it will be available on the member site. After you have logged in, under My Membership, then Vacation Details. If you look now you should see your current reservation as well as your waitlist. You can check any time you want (when I am on waitlist this means about 50 times a day!!) It is so exciting when you finally see it has come through!!;) Many people have had great luck with their waitlists coming through. I have done it 3 or 4 times and in all instances they came through.

In addition to the sneaky suspicion that calling to check actually works...there is another benefit of calling.

Since DVC went to automatic fulfillment of waitlists, there have been a number of situations where the filling of the waitlist canceled the base reservation! :scared1: If you are on the phone with MS, you have the opportunity to prevent that from happening.

If there is a screwup with a waitlist, it's a significant hassle to get it fixed, because the canceled reservation has usually been snapped up by someone else on a waitlist. At least one time I read of a member who was told they couldn't fix it, but they would be put on a "priority waitlist."

Because of the frequent issues like that, we don't use waitlist at all.

I've been told to give very specific instructions with adding a wait list request. They can add notes to your request giving them detailed instructions as to what to cancel and not cancel should a wail list be filled. I have several now but one is my main goal but the others are second, third, etc...options. I have instructions to not cancel my main goal wait list should one of the lower ones get filled. Whether or not that works I'll hopefully have the chance to find out... If one does get filled.

All that's true. However, I can't find it now, but I saw a thread in the last couple of days where the poster had done precisely that and it was still messed up.

They called back to check, it was messed up, and they corrected it. They called back again, and it was messed up again, so they corrected it...again. I believe they did not finally get it right until the fourth call!

Specific instructions are certainly important, but it's also critical that the MS CM understands the instructions perfectly. "Pobody's Nerfect," and things can get twisted around sometimes, no matter how conscientious the CM is.

I'm waitlisted for the first time too - I can see my current vacation details online - but nothing saying about a waitlist - should I be able to see this, or will they just change it if it becomes available?

how well is it really coordinated ?; if you call first thing in the morning when the system is updated with latest availability and you ask for a date/resort/unit that someone is waitlisted for can you possibly get that reservation without ever having been on the waitlist for it? in other words, have people beat the waitlist system ?

Thats my question...we are waitlisted and I have seen people say they have called and got a spot...Should we call? We are new to this.
