Hi! I just booked a trip for Jan 4th-9th! I've been to Disney twice before but I was never the one making ADR's so I have a few questions...

Firstly- How much do I have to worry about stuff closing up? I'm planning on a breakfast at 1900 Park Fare and Chef Mickey's, and Dinner at Raglan Road, Rainforest Cafe, San Angel Inn and the Sci-Fi Dine In.

Second- Should I call or use the new online system? And if I'm going to use the online system.. how do i get to it?

Last!- 90 Days before my first day is Oct 4th. Do I have to call every day after that to add the next days reservations or can I do them all that day? Orrr if it's not too hard to get them.. can I wait until 90 before my last day and just make them all?

Sorry for all the questions! I just want to be prepared!
Thanks!:goodvibes

It's a busy time of year, but if you make them Oct. 4th you should not have a problem getting them.. chef mickey's will be the hardest

Second- Should I call or use the new online system? And if I'm going to use the online system.. how do i get to it? Either way is fine, but you can book at 6am Oct4th online, an hour sooner than phone lines open. You just go to disneyworld.com click on the BOOK tab and then dining reservations, pick a restaurant then the time, date, etc. then enter your reservation # to make them for your whole trip. Then just write down your confirmation #s. For me, i printed them out too but it only had a pic of the restaurant and no name... and it was hard to see the pic.

Last!- 90 Days before my first day is Oct 4th. Do I have to call every day after that to add the next days reservations or can I do them all that day? Orrr if it's not too hard to get them.. can I wait until 90 before my last day and just make them all? If you are staying at Disney then you can do Oct 4th +10 days out, that's why you'd want to put in your reservatin # online so it can let you do the 10 days, if you call just do the same.

Sorry for all the questions! I just want to be prepared!
Thanks!:goodvibes
Hope i helped, have a great time! I'm leaving the day before you arrive!

Jan 4th to 9th is a busy time of year???

I thought that was about the slowest time of the year to go.

As far as 'worrying' about making ADR's. I think that you will have nice experiences at any Disney dining even if you don't get your first choices. They all have something special to offer. You can be very surprised by some of the not-so-popular places. I personally don't plan my trip around dining experiences since there is so much more to Disney.

Some people get up at the crack of dawn, call off work, set their clocks to the atomic time clock , and time their phone call speed to Disney (these are all actually suggestions in the Unofficial Guide and I find them highly entertaining).

Unfortunately since the creation of the dining plan and the crowding of TS restaurants, Disney has moved into more mass produced food akin to T.G.I. F. So, it's really more about the fun theming of the restaurants than anything.

Sci-fi is a really fun and unique place. If you can't get it (and I think it might be the only one on your list with an issue) to Prime Time...which can also be sooo much fun.

If you can't get 1900, try the Askerhaus princess dinner that comes with a photo even.

If you can't get rainforest, try T-rex...we were just there and I really thought the food was delicious..surprised me.
btw, Rainforest and T-rex are owned by Landry not Disney. They are not on a dining plan. They also have a 'safari club' card that you can get at either place. This is about $15 and will give you priority walk in seating, and a discount in the stores, and either 10% off entrees or a free select appetizer.

So the most important thing to do is ..NOT worry. It is vacation!

Thanks for the help Everyone! I've only been to Disney in early January and it always seems pretty quiet. I'll probably do them early anyway to be on the safe side.

I'm so excited! Now I'm just anxiously waiting for park hours to be posted!
