Hello, :wave2:

I am a new member and will be visiting OKW for the first time in January. I know there are a lot of experts on the board, so i'm asking for your tips and advice. I have a few questions as well:

What are the best buildings to stay in? Are some newer than others? Do they take requests?

Who do I speak to in order to get groceries delivered to our room?

Do the villas have internet access? We will be staying in a 1-bedroom...

Any other tips anyone wishes to add would be most appreciated! Thanks! :sunny:

I can't help with the room issues (we liked our 1 bdr when we were there ) and I THINK it was in building 35 or 35.

But, I can help you with groceries. We used wegoshop two weeks ago. They were highly recomended on the boards, and they were great. The owners name was Becca - she charged $20 to deliever the groceries to our room. She was a very pleasant and accomadating person.

Basically, you go to their website, and specify the store and groceries that you want.

We didn't use DVC's groceries bcs for us, the choices were limited. My kids are picky eaters, and my DH and I are on low carb diets, and there wasn't much we could choose from. Also, they were a little pricey.

Remember to get coffee filters! I don't know why they aren't included in the room - and bring a pizza cutter if your kids eat frozen pizza.

I looked at the WeGoShop, and when you fill out the form it asks for all the room info, however we wont know it until we check in.

Do you order the groceries from the room once your arrive? Which leads to my question, do rooms have internet access?

I don't remember if the rooms have internet, but I am almost positive SSR did, so perhaps OKW does.

For wegoshop. you fill out the order now and email it to them. They will send you a confirmation. Just fill in the resort and when you expect to be there. The day you get there, you call them and give them your room number.

We told Becca we would be there after 5 - when we got in our room at 4, we called her. She was already shopping for us at the store.

She also told me she can get beer & wine for you - its not on their websit e- they go to a liquor wholesaler.

Instead of requesting a specific building, I would request the amenities that are important to you. ie. non-smoking, near a pool, near the restaurant, near a bus stop. If you have a view preference, state that too. We have stayed at OKW more than a dozen times, and have never had a bad location or bad building.

Yes, buildings 62, 63, and 64 are a bit newer, but they are exactly the same as the others. The big difference is that buildings 11-29 only have one entrance into the master bath. If you have someone staying in the living room, it is inconvenient. If that is the case, you might want to request building 30 or higher.

Now for my preferences. We like the views from the Millers Road side, but these are "1 bathroom door" villas. We prefer the views and quiet pool near buildings 55 and 56 and like being anywhere near the South Point bus stop because of the easy access to DTD. We always request non-smoking for health reasons, and have always gotten it. You might want to stay away from 1st floor villas, since they could have a GV above them, and the wood floors of the GV can make it a bit noisy in the 1 and 2 bedroom villas below.

Ok so far I am requesting:

non-smoking
building 30 or higher
3rd floor villa

Anything else anyone can reccomend?

Are you using a town car service to get to OKW?
FLTours is great, they do a free 30min grocery stop, and if you fax Albertson's, they'll "pick and pack" for you. Groceries are ready when you get there, and you can add in whatever else you want - no charge:)

As Diane said, request what is most important to you...for us, with little kids, being close to HH was very important..so after non-smoking villa, that was our priority request.

We also knew we wanted a tub in the studio bathroom, so we requested a regular room, not an accessible room. (Accessible studios have roll-in showers)

Again...requests are not guaranteed, so make sure you prioritize what is most important to you:)

Have fun!!!

You may want to request top floor rather than 3rd floor. In most of the buildings, the 1 bedrooms and studios are on the ends which are only 2 floors (the middle of the building has 3 floors and the 3rd floor is all 2 bedrooms). Some buildings only have 2 floors. According to Doc's survey, the only buildings with 3rd floor 1 bedrooms are 14, 18, 35, 38, 64.

I've stayed in 1 bedrooms the past 5 years. We've been in 26, 28, 31, 43 & 40. The only one I really didn't like was 28. It was on the fairway surrounded by trees, which made the room dark plus no view. After that, I requested water view and had nice views in 31, 43, 40. Building 31 was my favorite.

We recently stayed in Building 62 which is one of the closest to the Hospitality House. Only took a few minutes to walk there from our unit. You also catch the WDW buses there.
