First Time @ GF Concierge - Help?

Hey Ariel...that is a FANTASTIC rate!!!! It is so much lower than what I was offered for the same room. May I ask you where you called to cancel? Did you call CRO number, the concierge number or did you call the hotel directly? I have had absolutely no luck in getting any kind of discount on a concierge room in the main building.

If you can't see the fireworks from your room use the balcony on the third floor. It's over top of the cigar lounge.
My wife and I sat out there a couple of nights and we were all alone. Perfect view of the castle and the water pageant.

Yes, as I keep getting PM's. That rate is incredible. I did not realize that they don't discount the main bldg, as I never have stayed there.

I called the 407-WDISNEY # and ended up with the travel company. Like i had said, I originally booked the FTP at the BC Concierge, then after my trip to Universal. I was floored at the hospitality there. And all the extra perks.

So I called to cancel the FTP and take a room only. When I was asked why? I told them that I was going to stay at Universal the rest of the time. The CM put me on hold. Came back and said, "YOU ALWAYS STAY CONCIERGE I SEE"......"WHY WOULD U CHANGE TO ROOM ONLY".

I said, look, I know u've looked at my history, I DID NOT renew my AP, I DID NOT renew my Dining Experience card, and I HAVE NOT BOOKED anything for 6 mos. I am very disappointed in the decline of disney. I think I will give Universal a try for awhile. THE CM puts me on hold AGAIN for like 10 mins. Comes back and says, What about the Grand Floridian concierge? I politely told him that I was not looking to spent $600 a nite on a room. He said, but what if I gave it to your for $10 more that what you were going to pay at the BC?. I had no idea that this was such a deal. I asked him to hold it, and I'd ask the other people traveling with me. When I told my travel partners, they were like.....TAKE IT BEFORE THEY CHANGE THEIR MINDS!! So i called back and took the room only for 3 nites at the GF. I think they were shocked that I didn't re-book the FTP pkg.

But who cares!! I am soo there in only 7 days. I can hardley contain myself. I feel like a kid waiting for Xmas morning.

Anyone been to the GF RPC within the last week? I was just wondering how crowded it has been with the FTP ?

the resorts have been pretty much sold out for weeks.

I noticed that when I first booked my stay about a month ago there were only fireworks on Tues. When I checked Disney's site last nite, there are fireworks Sun - Mon & Tues while we are there. I guess that is an indication that there are alot more people coming.

We just recently got back from the GF RPC last week and we had a wonderful stay. After all the bad reviews I read I was alittle nervous about it. It was one of our best stays at disney & we go every year. We requested 4th floor overlooking the pool and we got just that, room 4414. It was perfect. Check in for us was a breeze, we had told them that w e would be arriving around10am and there was a concierge staff waiting for us in the front. Valet took our car & luggage & he walked us up to the 3rd fl. concierge check in. After giving us our itinerary, passes and a bunch of pamphlets as well as asking us if we needed any other ps's or anything we walked around the resort till our room was ready. The room was beautiful. We always stay at the CR & the rooms there are the largest on property, but the GF rooms seem just as big. The view was wonderful. The pools are great. The zero entry pool is perfect for kids, they love the slide. It closes around 8pm, but the other pool which is larger is opened 24 hrs. is heated(I love a heated pool, even in the summer) At night that pool was pretty crowded, but always lounges available. It was nice to grab some late night food(burgers, piza, fries, etc) & enjoy it near the pool. THe firework display from there was wonderful. You felt as though you could reach out & touch them. THe concierge staff was great. They kept asking if we needed anything and were very friendly. THe food offerings were plenty and yummy. THe late night pastries and desserts were even better. We spent alot of time at the resort this vacation. We went to the parks for a few hrs. in the early evening, the rest of the time we were at the pools or the lounges. THe band that plays in the lobby was wonderful. Sitting up in the lounge on the 4th fl. with a drink & hearing the band was so relaxing. THey also have a pianist who plays there also. You'll have a wonderful time...Its a great resort with either lots of things to do or just to sit back, relax and enjoy.
Oh, just a note: it wasn't crowded at all. They parks were as crowded as they usually are in july, there were always lounges at both pools,(the zero entry was always a bit more crowded then the other pool, and be careful when walking in the zero entry pool, its slippery, a few kids fell, and one got hurt enough for first aid to come).
(one tip: request a room on the 4th fl. this was if you want to grab a cup of coffee or any other offering, you wont have to get in the elevator or take the stairs.)
Mondays & Fridays around 8am the housekeeping staff walks around the resort outside dressed in there full uniform with there open umbrellas like a parade, its fun to see.
