DH & I will be tent camping at the fort for the first time 5/16 - 5/21. He's never camped before & I'm getting nervous. If he doesn't like it, I don't want our vacation/ anniversary ruined! I think I have all the basics covered, but here are a few questions...
1. How hot will it be at night? Will we be ok with a fan(s)?

2. Should we request a loop? I've read the pros/cons of loop 1500 & 2000, but are there any major differences other than location?

3. Does anyone have any must have "extras" that we should think about taking?

Thanks in advance for any help!

This time of year should be pretty pleasant at night. I think fans should be sufficiant

IMO, the biggest difference is that the 1500 is more central and 2000 is more off the beaten path. Since it's an anniversary, 2000 may be a better fit for you ;)

Since this is his first tent camping experience, I'd think about the creature comforts he enjoys most at home, especially for restful sleeping. It will be warm, it could be a good idea to bring an air mattress and make it up like a regular bed. Sleeping bags can get too hot. With a bed you can have sheets and adjust your covers as needed. A little organizing beforehand can help a lot. For example, having all toiletry items together in one bag to take to the CS, including towels and room for a change of clothes.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I would think that a good set-up for food and cooking might be something to consider unless you are going to eat at restaurants for all your meals.

Oh, and that magical appliance - the coffee maker! If you are both coffee drinkers, nothing starts the day off better than a good cup of your favorite brand first thing in the morning.

I used to enjoy the early morning walks to the food court with our souvenir cups and my littlest (aka - Mini Mug Man), but I was not a big fan of the Nescafe. I may splurge on some really good Jamaican Blue Mountain for this trip!

I am SO glad to hear that the nights shouldn't be to bad! We're doing DDP, maybe bringing some stuff for sandwiches. I manage a restaurant and DH is cook at one, so this is our much needed break from cooking! Everyone here is so helpful, I love it!

You might want to try an overnighter close to home to see how things go. You don't want to be setting up camp for the very first time when you're on vacation. If things don't go well it could put the kibosh on the trip. You need a dry run or two before you leave. This way you'll have better sense of what you'll need.

The one thing i can think of is bug spray. I would spray around the tent to keep them out. I do the same thing to my TT anything that touches the ground get sprayed. Also lights and a fan. Fl at night should be ok with a fan. We will be on our first FW trip May 14 thru 18 :)
