(First thing - I am new to Photobucket and can't seem to sort out my photo sizes, so I have put thumbnails in - just click on them and the full size photo comes up. Sorry I'm a bit of a thicky. And sorry this is so long!):)

The Cast Members:
Me - on my 5th trip
Husband on 4th Trip - he missed February's trip this year, so hadn't been for 20 months
Daughter (aged 10) - also on 5th trip
Missing: Son (aged 15) - far too cool for Disney now, :cool2: chose to stay at home with his Aunt + Uncle + ipod + MSN + Facebook and all the other important things in a teen's life!

Before trip organisation: for the FIRST time I had booked all the elements of the trip myself instead of paying a travel agent through the nose to do it for me. I joined the Shareholders Club, booked room-only with Disney, got Eurotunnel tickets with our Tesco Clubcard vouchers and we were on our way.

Day 1 - 21st October
We were due to catch the 6.20 Eurotunnel crossing, but we were all too excited to sleep properly so we got to Folkestone in time for the 4.33 am train. This was the FIRST time we had driven to DLRP so we were a little apprehensive. The train crossing is so EASY - recommend that to anyone.
Husband drove the first bit when we got to France, then started to feel drowsy, so I gulped and bravely offered to drive. He must trust me, because he fell to sleep straight away, Dtr was already asleep, so I turned up the Bruce CD and sang my way along the Autoroute. :drive: Husband woke to help direct me round the tricky bit (his idea of sat nav is a crumpled print out from the Internet of how to get there!) and before long we were pulling in at Sequoia Lodge - much to dtr's surprise. We have always stayed at the Santa Fe before and we hadn't told her we were changing hotels for the FIRST time.
Everywhere looked gorgeous - it was a beautiful sunny day and the trees looked wonderful in their autumnal colours (those that weren't evergreens!)

We booked in and made our way straight to the Park. We bought temporary Annual Passes at the gate (our FIRST ever APs) and made our way into Main Street. That thrill gets you every time, doesn't it? That first view, the sound of the Main Street music and the goosebumps arise as you realise 'we've done it - we're here!' :goodvibes Everywhere seemed to have been 'splurged' with orange paint - certainly the Pumpkin Men had been busy.

On the stage in front of the Castle Minnie and the Halloween villains were just finishing their show as we passed on our way to the Annual Pass office. With our passes in our hot hands we made our way to get FastPasses for Buzz. Husband would be going on Buzz for the FIRST time and we had been telling him how much he would like it. We went over to POTC for our first ride - nice to see the pirate swinging again.
Dtr was keen to try Indiana Jones - she was convinced she would be tall enough to ride it for the FIRST time. Yay! She was - just! Off she went with Husband. After a while I heard the announcement that the ride was experiencing technical difficulties and thought how disappointed she would be. A little later they appeared and told me they had been at the very top of the ride when it broke down! A CM had to come and escort them down an escape route. :scared1: Not a good FIRST ride.
(Should point out at this point that I don’t do fast rides. :scared: I don’t even like driving over hump back bridges! Husband and dtr are convinced I would like BTM, in fact a few days before we came away husband tried to bribe me into going on. He pulled out all the money he had in his pocket at the time (about £40) and said “I’ll give you this if you will just try BTM” The answer was NO!)

It was time for our FP for Buzz. I could tell husband couldn’t see what the fuss was and that he wasn't impressed (this attitude did NOT last!)
We left the Park and went for lunch at the Rainforest Cafe - another FIRST for husband. I will do a separate food review, but I'll just say here we enjoyed it and it was just what we needed as we seemed to have been awake a looooong time.
It was time to check in at Sequoia Lodge and we were very impressed with our room.

Husband said “I bet you’re sorry you’ve booked into Santa Fe at Christmas now” I confessed that I had priced up SL but it would be another £116.
He immediately said he would pay the difference if I would go on BTM – still the answer had to be no!

Back at the Park we admired the orange gunge machine of the Pumpkin Men

then dtr had a balloon hat made for her by a Pink Witch

and then we went on the Mark Twain, which had been out of action on our last 2 visits. Next we went on Phantom Manor then looked round the Witches Academy and got some sweets from the Halloween piñata.

After a little shopping it was time to try out Indiana Jones again – this time there were no mishaps.
Next we watched the Candleabration ceremony and then a ride on BTM – without me! I did a bit more shopping. The Park was open until 10 pm so we had time to go on POTC (twice round), IASW, Space Mountain, Snow White and then Pinocchio. (Okay – you’ve probably guessed I didn’t do Space Mountain). We visited the Taniere du Dragon and a couple more shops by which time it was 10 o’clock. We took a stroll through the Village, thanked our lucky stars that SL was so close and then sank into bed and deep deep sleep!

Great! I can't wait for the next part. But I would love to see your pictures in an higher resolution/bigger version. :surfweb:

Thanks Marcus.
Do the photos not show bigger if you click on them? Or are they just doing that for me?

Oh how i want to go back
It's great to read trip reports thanks for sharing :goodvibes

Sounds like a great first day.

We are also going by car (a long time to wait yetthou for us).

If you have any tips or suggestions as to how to make it really easy please let us know - what was the tricky bit ??

Hopefully hubby and I will share the driving (like you did) which should make it easier.

Oh no!!! I'm the only one not started my trippie yet ~ tell a lie, I've written the title and date but that's as far as it's got! :rotfl:

A lovely first day :goodvibes I'm sure you'd love BTM if you rode it but wait until DH ups the stakes!! :rotfl2:

Your photos are great :thumbsup2 you've obviously resized them as they are all perfectly sized now. :goodvibes

What a lovely start tp the holiday and what a fabulous hat!!!

I don't like roller coasters but BTM is good fun, although I have chickened out when DS's and DH rode 5 times in a row. :)

It's the bit around CDG airport. Everybody says it's tricky but no-one gives a good description of why! Now I've done it, I can't remember what made it awkward :confused3 - not much help I know. What I did was to visit several forums and print off instructions from different people and then sort of take the best of them.

Now I can see the photos in a bigger version. Thank you. I love your autum picture. :thumbsup2

The reason that it is tricky is that you drive down the A1 and then at CDG it becomes the A3 for 1.5 miles then back to the A1. Also it can be very busy.

Immedediately after the airport the autoroute splits and you need to be in the right hand lane for Marne la Vallee; then it splits again and the 2 right hand lanes are the A104 south. There are signs before and after for "Les Parcs Disneyland"

That is an amazing moment isn't it! Gets me every single time, even if it's not our first day. I just Main Street the most of all the lands :goodvibes.

Cool that you stayed at the Sequoia! We ate dinner at Hunters Grill and were impressed by the lobby and outside surroundings. It all looked so much nicer than it does in pictures. I hope to stay there next time ::yes::. I'd like to also go during Halloween time! Your daughter expression is so cute in the picture with the big purple witch :).

Lovely photos, your daughter is very pretty:goodvibes

You should get the courage to do BTM, its a great ride & not that fast.
