I must admit this - I was nervous as all get out when I called to make my first reservation! But it went smooth and I was exceptionally pleased at how "painless" it was! The rep was friendly and very concerned that I understood everything before I committed.

I can't say how foolish I felt at the time I called, but boy, does it feel good to have that over now and know that it was foolish!!!!

Rae,
I understand your feelings. I had trouble dialing the phone, I was so excited. Then I was so disappointed, when I couldn't get my first choice accomodations. Now I feel it was a happy accident that I got "stuck" at OKW (I'll be traveling with in-laws and think the extra space at OKW will be key to our survival), but at the time went from a major high to a big low. I have since called three more times to adjust a wait list request, and each time the CMs have been extremely helpful.

Congratulations on your first ressies! :smooth:

You will find your experience is very much the norm with MS. They really are a great group of CM's that understand the obsessiveness of we members.

Im sure you did fine. I remember my 1st time making ressies, I couldnt get the week I wanted so the CM was very patient and explaiened all the different scenarios for me like day by day and so forth. The next time I was a lot more informed especially with the help from these boards and it was like a walk in the park.

Youll be a pro in no time!

Thanks! Nice to know I wasn't all alone in this "anxiety mode of a First Ressie"!!!

Now I think I'm okay with it!!!

Thanks!

Rae

Rae, I am glad you are getting off the boat and joining us on land for a while! Where are you staying? I bet you'll love it regardless... I also love the kind folks at member services. I am "numerically challenged" and am often confused about points, borrowing, etc. They are patient and kind. Glad it went well for you.

See you there!

Hey Colleen!

Nice to see you posting!!! I'm actually back on the boat!!! No kidding!!!

I've got one that's being paid for with MONEY and two with points - all Category 6, on Deck 5, but only one in MY room. Guess I'll have to kick the squatters out of MY room on the other two cruises!!! (Only joking!)

I certainly would like to see VWL or HH or even VB, but talking DH or DM into it is just impossible - since they are my traveling companions along with DS, I guess I'll just be a cruisin'!

How are things in Bloomington? We are cloudy, cold and waiting for the sleet, freezing rain and snow later this evening!

Take care!!!!

Rae

Rae, you are a cruising woman! I think you are on the boats more than on dry land! We haven't crusied yet, and I will consider you our local expert when it's time. My husband is a bit reluctant. None of us have ever been on a cruise. I am keeping it in mind for when the kids are a bit bigger or we get a little tired of Orlando (which I can't even imagine!)

The weather in my part of Indiana has been miserable. Florida will be all the more welcome. My son turns 5 this week and we leave 6 days later. He is so excited about his birthday AND our trip. All he talks about is swimming and renting boats. It's been so cold and snowy here. Even the kids are sick of the snow! The weather has been so bad that we have figured out an alternate route to WDW, with help from posters here. We are staying for a quick night at Riverside, then meeting my parents for 8 nights at Old Key West. I have never stayed in a luxurious 2-bedroom and can't wait!

See you on the Boards!

Colleen

We did get to Orlando for December - part of the 3 night WDW-land and 4 night sea vacation. It was cold, rainy and even a tornado warning came across the TV!!! Not exactly what I imagined when I left a cold, rainy and snowy Indianapolis!!
Michael complained the entire time about leaving and just "getting to the boat"! I think it will be a long time before he wants to go back to WDW!!

I definitely want us to cruise together someday - DH would enjoy it once he got on because I was the hold out in my family for years - "afraid of water, afraid of nausea, afraid of getting sunburned, afraid of claustrophobia", etc, etc, etc, - nothing of the kind!!! I still don't get much sun, but otherwise, it's just wonderful and I can't imagine a vacation anywhere else!!
Except for that heavenly Bloomington area, of course!

Rae

Rae, you covered all my cruise "issues." I have worried, previously secretly, that the boat might make me feel "trapped" or stuck somehow. I also worry someone (hubby or kids) might be ill. I am a worrier, not a barfer! I also worried about getting antsy. But people here seem to love the cruises for the most part. I have only read one post where the person had ANY negative, and that poster just didn't want to be on a LONG cruise. One of these days we'll have to be brave and go for it! I assume you found the boat to be non-claustrophobic?

No problem with claustrophobia here - not even in the room, but I always get the verandah. The ship is so large and open - you really feel free and easy - trust me, I'm not a doctor but I have played one....(*hahahahah!)

Rae

Considering the 8 inches of snow dumped on us last night, I wish I was "Stuck" at OKW and not in my driveway.....

Bah you want anxiety on a first time ressie. I had to get DH to do it cause I was at work. I sat down and explained everything to him (step by step) and at the end he said "dont worry I got it". 30 minutes later he said "what resort was it again" I nearly called in sick right then and there. Instead I wrote him a long list of everything to say. I suppose I neednt have worried he got it all right (even the room preferences ):D

Tiggery - you are a brave woman. A very brave woman. I love my DH but I'd never let him make any travel plans or reservations - I'm too much a control freak and I'd be afraid of what would happen!!!

You are a very brave woman INDEED!

Rae
