So after almost 30 lifetime visits hubby and I are actually going to go to Typhoon Lagoon for the first time, and on our 10th anniversary! Hubby has been asking about it for awhile so I am surprising him with the tickets, it was actually a day off from the parks for us, we were going to Boma for breakfast then renting a boat at our resort (Poly) then just hanging out at the resort pool until Trader Sams opens and then that night we have dinner plans with family at Ohana.

So I moved our time up to a much earlier time at Bomas so we can still have our favorite breakfast and then go to Typhoon Lagoon (we are driving ) we will leave around230/3pm so we can get back to the Poly and shower and go to Trader Sams and then dinner later..

Anyway couple of questions since we have never been..
1) Is it worth paying $9.99 for the refillable mug for the day, especially since we will leave around 3 at the latest?
2) Can you bring in a soft sided cooler for drinks (cans and plastic bottles)
3) Is a locker necessary if I only bring my cooler, and a bag with our sun block, towels, magic bands and phones?
4) Anyone have any recommendations for lunch? I know I want to try he donuts IVe heard about those things for years lol

1. In our opinion, no. But we bring our own food and drinks into the park.
2. Yes. As noted above, we bring a very large soft sided cooler in. It'll have full lunch or dinner for a family of 5.
3. We never rent one. We've been to TL and BB probably 30-40 times total and never had our stuff touched. Not saying it can't happen, but we don't bring anything of value in.
4. Sorry, we pack our own food.

Have fun, it's awesome!!!

I would not get the refillable mug. We usually spend a whole day there and never purchased one; we just ask for water.

We usually eat at Typhoon Tilly’s (I think that is the name). I either get the shrimp and fish basket or the shrimp po boy. Both are good by water park standards.

We’ve never rented a locker and our stuff has always been fine. We don’t bring our phones or cameras. We only have our magicbands, which we wear, suntan lotion, clothing, and shoes. My husband usually wears a waterproof lanyard that he sticks some money in in case our magicbands don’t work for some reason.

I forgot to comment on the donuts. We’ve had them before and I think they’re good. I believe you can purchase them pretty close to the entrance of the park - like once you get in and make your way to the wave pool.

My suggestion is to take goggles for the big wave pool area - they at least make me feel safer about getting thrown around by the waves!

I would pass on the mug.

Yes, small collapsible cooler is fine.

3) Is a locker necessary if I only bring my cooler, and a bag with our sun block, towels, magic bands and phones?

Yes!! Had friends get their belongings stolen at a water park. They had a wallet, keys, driver's license taken. A locker is well worth it. They have large or small.

4) Anyone have any recommendations for lunch? I know I want to try he donuts IVe heard about those things for years lol

The donuts are good!! We usually ended our day with them.

Thats a great idea on the water proof lanyard I just went and ordered two of amazon so we can bring our phones and some cash or a card! thank you!!

I wouldn't do the mug unless you are there from open to close and use it a lot.

We have only used a locker once and that was a trip we were changing into real clothes to head to dinner or something. With magic bands I would just leave valuables in the car but your discretion.

When we go to TL we head to the right after the entrance. There is a little donut stand about 30 feet in. Make sure you get the dipping sauce. We usually get food at the stand by where shark reef used to be (we haven't been back since they took the reef out) and we generally find some shaded chairs back in that area as well. Kids usually get chicken fingers, my wife has gotten a chicken wrap she liked and I think I usually get a turkey sandwich. Just basic stuff. The ice cream pail is awesome to share as well.

I would be careful with the lanyard in the wave pool. Those waves are no joke and will rip everything off your body if you catch them right (wrong). It's the best wave pool in the world IMO but don't get caught in the "no mans land" wave break area in the middle. I am not a small guy and have gotten tumbled like a rag doll.

Thank you @NavyDad! I will take your advise on where to get the shaded chairs and to not bring my lanyard into the wave pool, Im pretty short so I appreciate the warnings I will have to be careful in that wave pool! Thanks so much everyone keep your tips coming this is wonderful!

Many people try to grab chairs right in front of the pool and/or at the front of the park. This is fine if you get there early and/or you want to lay out in the sun. Our family likes a shady spot to hang out for a bit each day. If you keep moving around the sides to the back of the park you should be able to find a couple of chairs under one of the pavilions or even close enough under the trees to give you plenty of shade.

3) you get free towel use as a resort guest, so it’s not necessary to take one, just ask a cashier at the store, Singapore Sals and they will check your magic band.
I’d never leave a phone (or anything you don’t mind losing) at a chair.

We ended up getting the small locker for our phone, but we didn’t have a car. I just liked the piece of mind and I’m a worry wart! Loved the donuts! We took two soft sided coolers with sandwiches and food, left them at our chairs and they were fine. Didn’t do the mugs as we just asked for water and brought those little lemonade powders to put in the ice water. I wouldn’t wear the lanyard in the wave pool, found lots of people lose lots of stuff in there! Did do the refillable popcorn bucket. Ate some serious popcorn in our family! We will be going again in a couple of weeks and can’t wait!

I did not know about the free towels for resort guests. Thanks for the tip.

OP, get a locker if you are driving. The last thing you want is for someone to steal your car. It's very easy to find a car in that lot using the key fob...It's not a huge lot. People steal bags at water parks ALL the time. We always get the small $10 locker for peace of mind.

My family ALWAYS rents a locker (well, since 2006 anyway). Back in 2006 at Blizzard Beach, we had items stolen from our pool bag. Security told us we were not the only people hit that day.

If your swimming trunks have pockets, you could put your lanyard in there. My husband has done that before. His pockets do have Velcro so that helps keep it secure.
