Hello wonderful Disney helpers!!

A little about me, selected the dining plan, we have a 6 year old son that will be turning 7 while we are at Disney (Sept 12). We adore seafood and fish choices and we are staying at the AKL.

Chef Mickey's for his birthday dinner.
Coral Reef at Epcot for dinner.
California Grill-for our last night there.
Blue Zoo (not on the dining plan) for a 'date for us'

We have a few options for the other nights:

Captn Jack (we like seafood and this is on the dining plan)
San Angel Inn-mexican food at Epcot
Mitsukoshi-looks like fun
or maybe Boma since we are staying at AKL-but the idea of burning up our dining credits on a buffet seemed silly

Our course, the other dining will be counter service which are not as important to us.

I would love some imput.

Thanks!

Margaret

Chef Mickey's is alot of fun....I'm sure your son will love it (I also have a 6 y/o ds turning 7 soon, and he loves it!)

California Grill was really good (we went several years ago)...I think it's 2 credits, right?

We personally LOVE Boma and the food is worth it on the dining plan. Very interesting selections and the soups and desserts are awesome!

Teppanyaki is fun, but we have several of those type of restaurants at home, and the one in Epcot isn't any better than the non-Epcot ones, imho! And we ate once at San Angel and didn't like it very much. Food was just average. We much prefer Le Cellier...excellent food!!

I've never been to the rest of the ones on your list...so can't help you there!
Enjoy!!

Just a suggestion since you say you love seafood. You might think about switching the California Grill with Flying Fish. They are both 2TS restaraunts and I have heard really good things about Flying Fish.

Editted to add:

We chose all our restaraunts making sure there was at least 1 seafood dish avaliable some of our choices that you might want to look at are:

Boma (only buffet we chose)
Spoodles
Le Cellier

Other then those you already have Coral Reef on your list and our other three are two ticket restaraunts (CRT, Flying Fish and Jiko).

We are also staying at AKL and decided to try Boma even though it is a buffet because pricewise it is not a loss on the dining plan and it appears to have a great selection of food and get decent reviews everywhere I've checked.

My only thought is Blue Zoo. It's a buffet, isn't it? Is that what you're really looking for on your 'date night'?

Everyone has different tastes, but your choices are very good for a WDW rookie!! You have obviously done your homework!

Someone mentioned substituting LeCellier for one of your other Epcot choices, and I would second that. We think it is one of the better WDW restaurants, and MUCH better than either San Angels or the Teppanyaki.

As far as Boma goes, however, we tried it and just don't like it at all--buffet food is buffet food, even when it's somewhat exotic.

Le Cellier was one of the best places we ate at. We loved it and will be returning on our next trip. It's a must for us!!! :cool1:

I see you have been reading a lot of tips from the DIS! Your plan looks great to be your 1st Disney trip. Our favorite character breakfast is Chef Mickey!!! We go every yr. One of the highlights from our trip back in Jan.- We arrived at the little restaurant across from San Angel Inn and had dinner outside by the lake and watched Illuminations from our seats!!! It was wonderful and we will always do this. We had magaritas and had the best seats in the World(showcase). Our other favorite meal is lunch @ the Crystal Palace!! Excellent!
Have Fun and we want a trip report when you return!!!

just a word about Boma...Disney Buffets in general are more like a buffet in an expensive hotel, not like home town buffet or ponderosa ( :goodvibes ) so it's not a waste of a meal( i don't normally care for buffets but not cause the food at wdw ones are bad, they are usually very good. i just don't like to get up and down up and down the whole meal)

we didn't care for the Boma breakfast mainly cause we wanted exotic and got normal disney buffet breakfast...good but not exotic

that being said i'd probably do Boma for dinner since you are staying at AKL...it will give you time to relax at your hotel that night , view the lodge and the animals and not have to race around to get to another resort which is nice to do after a busy day/few days in the parks

if not, Brown derby was excellent( probably our best meal last trip) but i think that is still 2 ts( really hoping it goes to 1 before we go wistful thinking) and Le cellier is very good..i'd skip mexico even though the atmosphere is great the food is kind of expensive chichi's( or was last time we went) and biergarten is good but a buffet also. France was good also last time we went and had a great trout dish but i don't know if that is stil on the menu
