Our first DCL cruise will be next February--Eastern on the Magic. Our party will be myself, DH who hates to dress up, and DS then 16. We have the second seating and I know we're likely to get the LAPLAPL rotation.

What are the advantages of each rotation? I've read some like to be in Lumiere's for formal night and Parrot Cay for tropical night.

I need experienced cruisers insight.

Thanks in advance.

Well, we were in Lumiere's one formal night and on the second cruise were in Animator's. Both were very nice. Those were also my two favorite restaurants (outside of Palo), so either way, I don't think I'd have enjoyed the formal night in Parrot's. However, I think it's all a personal preference.

It really doesn't make any difference. You will have the same menus and the same special nights regardless of which rotation you have. It makes a lot of sense--the clothes match the decor--if you have Lumiere's on formal night and Parrot on tropicalifragilistic night. However, which restaurant you are in doesn't change the night one bit.

Lumiere's is our least favorite restuarant. We love Parrot Cay.

We had the laplapl..we were in Parrot Cay for formal night and it was excellent..did not seem casual at all. Everyone all dressed up, the live music..it was excellent.

Don't get wrapped around the ankles about what night where..really not worth the headache!!!!

We have had LAPLAPL on both of our cruises. As a matter of fact, we requested it on our last cruise. My husband doesn't like formal wear either, so on formal night we have our reservations at Palos and although we dress very nice, it's not formal.

Whatever dining rotation you get, however, you will have a WONDERFUL TIME!

Thanks for the replies, everyone. You've helped me decide not to worry about the rotation, and just enjoy.

My husband doesn't like formal wear either, so on formal night we have our reservations at Palos and although we dress very nice, it's not formal.

With our childrens' dislike of formal clothes and their penchant for wearing as much food as they eat, we thought about going to Topsiders for formal night. Do you know if it is very crowded that evening?

I agree with WEBRAY completely.

On our second cruise, I got so wrapped in what night to do Palo's and which menu to skip, etc., etc. that I almost ruined just the sheer joy of going!

This time I canned it and said whatever we get, we get. The restaurants are unique, the menus are fun and ever changing and the atmosphere is great.

Try not to anticipate too much. Just go and take it one event at a time and remember -- you're on vacation.....relax.
