...what did you bring that you didn't need and what did you forget but needed it? I am a first time cruiser who leaves next Monday. Starting to get anxious about what to bring and what not to bring. I am determined not to over pack! Thanks!

Not a first time cruiser...but bring marker pens for marking off activities you want to go to on the navigator.

Smart clothes for Remy/ Palo.

Small first aid kit, plasters, and painkillers, sunburn cream. Is sold on ship but over priced.

I used my scissors A LOT!!! For totally random things. I forgot my needle nosed tweezers. That was the only thing I forgot.

Lanyard. Disney gives out lanyards to return cruisers but not to first time cruisers. I was on the Dream last week and thought I wouldn't want to wear it but it did come in handy. They do sell them in the gift shop if you don't have one to bring with you.

I forgot (or never thought to pack) a watch. My first cruise was September 2013 (before the DCL app/Navigator was on the Dream) and I never knew what time it was because I didn't carry my phone with me on the ship. Ended up buying myself a nice Mickey watch in the gift shop. :)

Bring: Tylenol! They sell it at Mainsail on board but it is quite pricey.
No need to buy and bring: Seasick pills if you aren't for sure going to be seasick. My DW had to visit the health center on the second day of our sailing on the Dream and right outside of the health center reception area is a huge box of individually packaged seasick pills for free.

A highlighter or two to mark off activities you don't want to miss on the Navigator.

A re-usable mug if you want. I like it for the hot beverages like coffee as mine has a handle so I can easily carry mine and my mom's when I make a run for drinks. Gives me a hand for a snack if needed.

Magnets for your door. Makes it easier to find, too.

Extra batteries for camera, cords for phones, camera, camcorder, etc.

Flashlight, nightlight or glow stick for trips to the bathroom at night. Not everyone will need or want these. I wear a face mask so I won't be woken up by the lights.

I seriously had an entire suitcase of clothes we didn't wear!! Most of the time we were in swimsuits/cover ups. Just need a few outfits for dinner!!

A jacket or sweater for dining room, I have been on 11 cruises and I am cold every night at dinner.

My 1st Disney cruise was 2 wks ago on the Dream.

Didn't need: a beach blanket. I brought one, at the suggestion of a DCL CM who said he wished they had one for their baby while on CC. I did not use it.

Did need: I don't wear a watch, but I needed one on the ship. I will bring one next time.

First cruise: this past April on the Fantasy

Didn't Need:
  • Insulated cups (for soda). I did use my water bottle to fill water to bring back to my room for overnight, but I never used my Disney Store insulated cup. They have plenty of paper and foam cups by the beverage station.

Did Need but forgot to bring:
  • Nail clippers! You can thank me later. My sister ended up buying one in the ship's shops because she didn't want to rip off her chipped nail. I also needed it, as well as my toddler.
  • Air freshener for the bathroom

If you go to the spa, they will lend you some. I had a toenail chip and they even let me use some nail polish for free to cover up the bare spot rather than spending $75 for a pedicure. (I had just got one before the cruise.)

Good to know for others if they forget. I'd prefer to bring my own but yea, I didn't even think of asking the spa. Duh! Should've thought of it since my sister did get a pedicure during the cruise.

Borrow toenail clippers? Umm....YUCK!

Yea for some it's yucky but if you are in a bind and don't want to fork out $10 for a $2-worth clipper, then the PP's suggestion was helpful. Another thought is you should always wash your hands/feet after using nail clippers anyways.

My opinion is that I was happy to have my insulated mug. Yes, they have lots of disposable cups, but the coffee cups are small-ish, and I'd rather get my 16oz of coffee all at once and keep it hot :) Also, I hate that the cold drink cups start to sweat immediately (and are, again, small-ish.) I used the same insulated mug for coffee in the am, then rinsed it out and used it for cold drinks the rest of the day. I saw a lot of people with Tervis cups for cold drinks.

Agree on the magnets for the door. Or, you can do what I did and just remember what your next-door neighbor's magnets look like. I know you have a room number, but for some reason if you're walking a long way down the hallway you kind of start to zone out and looking for specific magnets is a good visual reminder to stop, LOL.

Also agree on the sweater for the dining room. I have taken two cruises, both on the Wonder. I did a 5-night Western Caribbean in April 2014 and never recall being cold in the dining room. I just did a 2-week Panama Canal and was cold every single night. (Well, after the first night I always had a shawl.)

Ziplock bags. Gallon and sandwich size. Don't know why, but I always seem to use em on vacation.
