First Time Cruiser NEEDS TIPS

I am going on my FIRST cruise ever - March 12 - Disneys 7-day Western. I am way excited and a little nervous.

I have an 8 yr old daughter and a 14 yr old son and a fabulous hubby.

I am reading through all the posts on this board and am learning a lot.

I think I know all the standard tips but I am looking for those little but extremely useful tips.

I especially need help with Packing, Teen stuff, excursions, sea sickness, time savers, dress codes, etc.

How do I get the APLAPLA rotation? How formal is formal night - will my hubby be out of place in a tux (he so wants to wear it)?

have you read the sticky at the top of this forum? i think it's about the third one down. LOTS of great stuff there. i've never cruise yet either, so no personal tips from me. but i love the dis. you will learn sooooo much from these great people.

My DH felt fine in his tux on formal night. He considered wearing it for semi-formal also, but was so tired by dinner time that he decided to go with dark pants and sports coat instead... Although the "formality" varies A LOT - there were plenty of folks who like to dress up so you didn't feel odd. A group of the women from our DIS Meet thread had agreed to long gloves and tiaras for formal night - and I didn't even feel out of place with those! I know some only wore them for a little while for a photo-op, but I wore mine all evening (well, the gloves came off in order to eat!)

I am really excited about formal night - DH in tux and me in a new formal. Kids have dressy clothes too. Glad others wear tuxes too. What night is formal night??

Would love to wear gloves and tiaras - so would my DD. Will have to mention this to the other cruisers on my ship.

Don't forget to get the over the door shoe holder for your bathroom items...I know that is a must have!
