First time - considering PBR

Hi all! After countless trips to WDW, we are planning a trip at the end of August to Universal. The big selling point to staying on site is the FOTL. Our other option was to book a Marriott timeshare (paying guests, not owners there) so we'd have the room to spread out and our own washer/dryer and kitchen for snacks.

If we do stay at Universal, I was leaning toward PBR. It's the four of us, and all sharing one room doesn't thrill me. But their rooms look fairly large, and we can get a deluxe club room for about $280 (a little more than the timeshare 2br unit).

Is FOTL really important on a not so busy week? I don't know, but it seems that the week before Labor Day weekend isn't too busy (but we will be there during a weekend before, so maybe weekends are busier). I'd love some feedback. I absolutely hate to wait in lines, which is why I love Disney's fastpass system.

I don't see any suites showing up on the website, guess you have to call about them. Just kidsuites, which are twice the rate of a regular room, so I'd just get two rooms then (two bathrooms then).

Is it true that PBR doesn't have a laundry room?

The rate for the club room is only about $40 more per night than the regular deluxe room. It's about $84 per night over standard room. Do they let you have wine or beer any other hour than 5 to 7 pm? At Disney they'd get it for you any time of the day (we have stayed at AKL concierge before and that was the case there, they just don't advertise this. We asked. Of course I believe in tipping as well).

Do club rooms get the discount on the rental of the cabanas? I read the HRH club guests get the cabanas for 50% off. Do you need to book cabanas well in advance or can you wait till getting there and have the club concierge book it for you? I'd love to do that one day, my DH would like it I think.

I know I have a lot of questions - TIA!

Got one answer already - called PBH and NO laundry rooms there. Yikes. For a week, I have to do laundry. Now I just don't know. Rooms at HRH look okay, not my first choice. RPR looks very cute, but the rooms are small. Don't know, but may book that one for now. It's just so small for 4 of us for a week, and in the heat of August, we may need naps or cool off time.

What we have done, but I don't know if it's in your budget, is booked the cheapest possible room (usually at RPR) to get fotl for our time at Universal without checking out of our main hotel. If you are planning on 2 days at Universal, you would get unlimited fotl for everyone in your party for both days by booking one night.

Thanks, but we plan on a week there. Is a week too long? We'd plan on pool time every day, and we won't go commando style at all.

Not too sure of your exact dates, however you could get a queen on the club level at HRH for @269 per night. If you were to go that route, you could put in a request for a queen deluxe on the club level(we stayed in 7041 and 7019)

It was a blessing for the 5 of us to have the room to spread out :thumbsup2
