First time booking and have banked points

As the title says, it will be my first time booking, and I have banked points to use. I am still waiting for my account activation from Disney but want to make sure I can book my reservation ASAP. When booking, will the system automatically apply the banked points first before pulling from current '23 points? Also, I plan to split my trip into 2 separate reservations at my home resort so that I can wait list the first half of my trip at 2 other resorts. If the waitlist comes through and does not require as many points as my already booked home resort, do the points go back into my account and then the same banking rules apply, meaning they can be banked if not needed as long as I am not past my deadline? And in this scenario, I think it would be better to apply my banked points to the latter half of my trip because that is the reservation I plan to not change.

I recently made a reservation online.

If you have more than one contract, the system will ask you to click on your contracts, in the order in which you want the points used.

But it doesn't say anything about using banked points while you are making the reservation, which I think is confusing.

After it says, "Congratulations! Your Vacation is Confirmed!" It will list the reservation number, the type of villa, the number of nights, the check in date, the check out date, and the number of points.

Then you will see Point Summary. Click on Point Summary, and it will show you which points were used.
So for your first contract, it might say: 25 banked in points (0 banked points remaining)
And for your second contract, it might say: 95 banked in points (5 banked points remaining).

I was only using banked points for this reservation, so I don't have an immediate example of what it shows when it uses up all of your banked points and then goes on to your current year points. But this will give you an idea of what you will see.
