First time at VWL - Any suggestions?

We will be staying at a one bedroom at the Villas at the Wilderness Lodge this October. Can you friendly folks give me your pros and cons? We usually stay at the BCV.

Any advice? Room request suggestions? First night suggestions?

I have been to the Whispering Canyon cafe before, but it was a little too hectic for us.

Anything will be helpful!

If you have a room facing the water you can see the water parade at night. If not, walk down to the beach to see it. The pool is lots of fun and the geyser goes off every hour. You can do the Pooh character breakfast at Artisit Point. And if you don't want to spend the money on dinner there, they have bar food that's much cheaper and very good!

PS you won't find too many cons on that thread, except for the ugly sofa in the 1 BR!!!

We don't like WCC either. I recommend taking the boat to the CR and trying The Wave, or head to the Poly for Kona Cafe.

Roaring Fork is fine for a quick service meal or snack and we have often headed over to Kona (Poly) or the Wave (Contemporary) for a table service meal on the night of arrival. There is a small boat that takes you to the CR and then you can hop the monorail to the Poly or GF. We love the lodge and enjoy sitting by the lake and fireplaces, strolling over to the campgrounds on the nature trail, renting a boat and heading out on the lake, relaxing by the pool and sipping morning coffee on the balcony. We ask for a lakeside room but now that the trees are full grown it is hard to see so we still stroll out the beach for the Electrical Light Parade at 9:35. Artist Point is great for a romantic dinner and is worthy of its Signature restaurant rating. Have a wonderful trip.
