We will be staying at VB for the first time in March. Our family includes our DD, age 14 and DS, age 8. We have heard about the evening kids club activity for our son and the teen pizza/movie night for our daughter. We were also thinking about a day trip to the Space Center at Cape Canaveral. I would be interested in any other activity suggestions and restaurant recommendations (both on-site and off-site). I know there is a menu book available at the guest services desk but would appreciate any advance info from VB veterans. Many thanks.

The restaurants on site are very good-IMHO. The snack bar near the pool seems to always have good burgers and such.

Shutters and Sonja's are very good. There are tons of places in VB to eat-all your usual places. Casey's Place has good hot dogs, fries, sandwiches, etc. There is a pizza place just north of the resort-walking distance that has pretty good pizza.

Check out the book in the lobby for other suggestions-I think a good one is called Capt. Hiram's-for some reason this doesn't sound right-I'm sure others will correct me if I am wrong.

There will be scheduled activities while you are there-the trip up to the Cape sounds good. I'm not sure if the Dodgers will be in town while you are there-I know someone else probably knows.

You can rent movies from the store at the resort, rent bikes.

From the age of your kids, it sounds like they may enjoy the waverunner tour that is offered-ask at the front desk or ask the guy out by the beach rental stuff. By the way, if that guy ever wants to quit his job-I WANT IT-he gets to sit near the ocean all day-I'm so jealous. Some of the artsy-craftsy kind of activities might be too young for them. They may even have some kind of kayaking thing as well.

HAVE FUN

If you are baseball fans, the LA Dodgers training camp is close by.You can catch a spring training game.
There is a mall (Indian River mall) about 15-20 minutes away that has a food court and a Movie theater there in case of a "rainy day".
For restaraunts, besides the on-site ones, there all all kinds(Chili's,Outback,Ruby Tuesday,Bob Evans, etc) within a 10-20 minute drive.;)

Our family of 6 were at VB this past November and we "LOVED" it. We didn't eat out much, we went to Publix and had most of our meals in our room(2 BR villa). My Dmom came along for the trip, and she loves to cook, and I love to eat, when she cooks!!!:p
We had a GREAT time on the beach :smooth: and at the pool. I even got my DW to go down the slide, what a hoot!!! My DW has the loudest and craziest laugh, everyone at poolside was in hysterics listening to her coming down the slide. It made the trip!!! We tried to get our DD 12 to get involved with some of the evening activities, but she was too COOL :smooth: for that, Besides, we had our Dneice 27 along on the trip, and our DD hung around her the whole time. We took a ride to the Indian River Mall(about 30 minutes) and went to the movies(Santa Clause 2), after the movie we walked around the mall(it was me with 5 woman, you think I could keep them out of the mall?) and then had ice cream at DQ. We are looking forward to a return trip to VB in the future.:bounce:
Have a GREAT time!!!
