First time at the Fort...tell me about it....

Hi everyone!
My family of 3( Me My husband and my 18month old daughter) will be staying in the cabins this september!.....so tell me all about the fort!......Does anyone have any pics of the inside and outside of the cabin?....what about getting around?....iv heard some say its a pain?!

We have only been to DW once, stayed at wilderness lodge. We will be going to the fort for the first time in April. My advice is to read read read! We have learned so much i almost feel like we have been there already (well not really, but I have learned alot ) One of the top threads is frequently asked questions (FAQ) very helpful also just picking interesting threads and reading through them is great. Also allears.net has alot of information pictures of the cabins I'm pretty sure. have tons of fun!

We stayed in the cabins in Nov 2007 and loved them. One thing I would strongly recommend is to rent a golf cart. It will make it a lot easier to get around. The boat ride to MK is great and you can go down to the beach to enjoy the MK fireworks. The cabins are very nice and will be great for a family of 3. There were 6 of us and we were very comfortable. We ordered groceries so we could cook breakfast daily. It was too cold when we went to use the pool. The other amenity they have is the movie/bonfire. We didn't have a chance to go, because we were beat by the end of the day, but it really sounds great.

Allears is the best place to look for pics of the cabins. They are very comfortable.
The bonfire is a great time. I think your DD will love meeting chip n dale. They are some of the best characters for the little ones.
My kids at that age liked playing in the sand on the beach, seeing the ponies, and taking a carriage ride.
We don't rent a golf cart, and we've never had any problems with the internal buses. They come pretty frequently. It's a basic system - you figure out what 'color' route your cabin loop feeds into, and that's the bus you look for. There are only 3 different routes, so it's not big math.

Oh - And don't waste too much time looking for the sheet for the pack n play. There is never one in the room. Just call mousekeeping and tell them you need one. The packnplay is cleverly hidden in the hall closet. And the big coffeepot is cleverly hidden in the highest cupboard over the pantry.

We just finished our 8th or 9th trip, I forget. You will love it. We stay at the campsites so I can't help with cabin questions. Everything is super easy inside the Fort. I think the cabins are on the purple bus route. You can take it to the Settlement for the beach, dining, boats and Settlement Trading Post. You will have your own pool for the cabins. It's smaller and rather plain, but also not as crowded. The main pool is the Meadows and can also be accessed by bus. The orange bus goes right past it. There you will find all sorts of recreation including an arcade, canoes and bikes for rent, the tennis courts and the Meadows Trading Post for shopping as well as the campfire movie location for at night. There is also a pony ride and horseback riding, the Tri Circle D ranch for looking at the Disney horses and wagon and carriage rides. There is more to do at FW than you will be able to do on 1, 2 or even 9 trips. Bring bikes or rent a golf cart for quicker transportation. The buses are good for internal transportation, but I've never been a fan of them for external transportation - too slow. Relax and enjoy. The Fort is the best.

You're going to love the Fort. It's addictive! All good advice in the above posts. Do remember to use mosquito spray at night especially if you go to the beach for the Electric Water Parade..

I would suggest making sure you alot time to enjoy the fort. You can rent a cart if you just want to however we've been several times and found the bus system to work just fine.

Do the breakfast buffet at Trails End. Very good with one of the best prices in WDW. Get your daughter a Mickey waffle!

The cabins have everything you'll need. I think you're going to really enjoy them.

I was wondering if some cabins are more private than others?.....as in are there some cabins that have a little more woods around them and in a little quite spot?.....I was also wondering if the walk from the cabins to the bus or boat was like the walk from the 80s in pop to the food court....oh ya and do they have refill mugs?..where do you get them and fill them at the fort?

The cabins are all pretty quiet. I would say that loop 2500, down by the cabin pool, might be your best bet as far as isolation goes. But I don't know about a specific cabin number to suggest for you.
The bus stop is a trade off. You either are close to the bus (and might hear it go by at all hours) or farther from the bus stop (where it's quieter) which means a longer walk at the end of a day. I've never stayed at Pop, so I can't help you with the comparison.
It's a good quarter of a mile stroll from the bus stop at the marina to the end of the dock where you catch the boat. (someone here can tell you exactly how far, lol, but I'd say it a 5-10 minute stroll)

It's very quiet everywhere. I wouldn't be concerned about the noise level at all.
