We have just returned from our first visit at OKW and had a great stay!
We were extended family of 8 (4 adults and 4 kids 9,8,6, and 5) The choice was 2 bdrm or two separate rooms at a value resort! We rented points from another DISer from the DVC Board which was a great experience.

We were in building 21, which seemed to be a very quiet area. We had a really nice golf course view and was near to the bus stop and smaller pool.

This was a whole new perspective on staying on site. Previously we have stayed at CR, Poly, WL, AKL, Swan, and Dolphin. All are really nice, however they are hotel rooms. The 2 bdrm had loads of room (I was very surprised at the size), and had the convience of doing your own laundry, cooking as many meals as you like, with tons of room to store all your "stuff". I never once had to tell the kids to stay on the bed so I could straighten up and organise things in the room! LOL! I couldn't believe we were actually on site!

OKW has a subtle Disney flair. I didn't feel any of the "Disney Frenzy" like some of the other properties can have. Hidden Mickey's were everywhere, CM's were really nice and helpful, and had all the amenities expected when staying on site. The bus service was great - never waiting more than 10 minutes for a bus (and this was because we just missed the first bus) It was restful and comfortable and a great place to relax after spending a busy day at the parks.
It truly felt "like home"
I would be happy to answer any questions, now that I'm a new member of the OKW Fan Club!

So when are you going to either sign a contract with Disney for DVC or purchase a resale? It's really tough to vacation in DVC and then go back to an ordinary hotel room.;)

....And welcome back!

Glad you had a great time. Your sentiments are exactly why OKW is one of our favorite resorts. We have stayed a majority of on site hotels, and enjoy them for different reasons, but OKW has the size, location, transportation, pools, etc, etc, etc, ...while still having the subtle Disney Feel!

Hi. I am so glad to hear you had a great time. I head there next week and can't wait. I have heard the bus service wasn't the greatest from here, so glad you said it was great!!!! My question is this, did you request anything specific about the location of your room either when making your reservation or at check-in? I really want to be close to a bus stop, or even maybe near the main check-in area. Is it too loud up there do you think? I have never seen the property. Thanks for any advice you might send.

I thouroughly agree with your sentiments about OKW!! We loved our stay there last year, also on rented points. Of course we then bought DVC! How about you? :)

So glad you had a nice stay!

We requested a ground floor room near the HH in July of this year. We were given our 2BR in building 13 on the ground floor. It was great....close to the Bus Stop, HH, main pool, and not noisy at all!

Glad you enjoyed your stay at OKW.

tarheel - we just asked for dedicated two bedroom, non smoking. When we arrived, I asked if any elevator buildings were available since MIL has a bad knee (and frankly I didn't want to carry all our stuff up stairs :D )
Unfortunately there was no elevator left (buildings 62, 63, 64 - near hospitality house) so I asked for first floor.
No problem. If you want to be near Hospitality House (we were about a 7 minute walk - which was fine) I'd request that on your initial reservation.
I would think that the bus stops are all pretty centrally located. I could be wrong, but it didn't seem to me that any of the bus stops were more than 5 minute walk from the buildings.
Have a great stay!
