Just booked our first trip home to OKW.

Any suggestions on where to stay? First floor or not, which ones have elevators? Bus stop? You know the usuall? :confused3 I know it has been asked a bazillion times. :teeth:

It will be my DM and my 2 DS ages 6 and 3 and I going home for the first time. I have booked a 1 bedroom for the first 5 days then DH is joining us for the last 5 days in a 2 bedroom.

I am so excited to be going for 10 days a dream come true! :cloud9:

There's no easy answer on location, which is a good thing. It means that there are lots of good areas and you'll enjoy yourself wherever you wind up. We prefer to be by the main pool so we like buildings 11-14. I have no preference as to floor...all have their advantages. Since you're going to be moving rooms anyway, why not try to stay in two entirely different areas to see which you prefer. Maybe near the main pool for one part of your stay and then somewhere in the back of the resort---which lots of people like--for the second. Wherever you wind up, a bottle of champagne for the jacuzzi when your partner arrves is highly reccommended!

Thanks so much. I am very excited to be at OKW. I have always wanted to stay their since it was built. LOL! It took 10 years to become a DVC memeber!

We have had 20+ stays at OKW, and I don't usually request anything other than no-smoking for medical reasons. I have yet to get a bad unit. I prefer the upper floors for view, but 1st floor for convenience. The buildings in the 60's are teh only ones with elevators, but the stairs are very low rise, and easy to navigate even for my DH who has very arthritic knees.

We have 2 kids (5 & 2) and we went to OKW for 10 days last September.

We stayed in building 62! It is our favorite building!! You're close to the Hospitality House, the buses, and you get the added bonus of seeing the high Epcot fireworks. The only thing with the 2 bedrooms is that they are dedicated 2 bedrooms (at least the 3 different ones we had).

We request (in this order): non-smoking, hh, upper floors. We have always been happy with our rooms (Building 16, 14, 62, 32 & 18).

The reason we like being close to HH is the pool, the community hall (arts and crafts and activities for kids), the tot area, restaurants, the water taxi, etc. With kids, the shorter the distance to walk, the better! ;)

Although it would be nice to visit a couple of different areas at OKW, I would try and see if you could just add the studio part to your 1 bd. Packing up all your clothes, food, and goodies is a hassle (especially since you're a single parent the first part of your trip). We have been able to do this a couple of times.

Good luck and have fun!!

NOt all 2 bedrooms are dedicated. If you book a 1 bedroom lock off and have it linked to the 2 bedroom lock off when you make the ressie, you MIGHT be able to keep the same unit and just have the door opened on the new check in day. We usually mention it to to front desk person when we check in, and while it isn't guaranteed, we have always been able to do it that way.
